My problem is that the pirates are like way harder since the nerf od surg strike. There harder yet now they drop way weaker items. I kill the 20k-50k pirates all day long in all different places and i find garbage. THers no MOd beams or extruded heat sinks or skadi heat sinks or i havent found a good proj or any of that stuff since the last patch. IM sure its out there but is it so neccessary to make the good items so few and far between. The prices on these items are ridiculous. does anyone agree that the drop system for pirates should be better or what??

ive had extruded sinks and magnetic voertex II's drop since the patch, they are very rare but they should be. wheres the fun in having the best items in the game if everyone else does to?

I agree the drop rates suck. I have hunted 20+k cruisers for the last two days for 4-6 hours at a time in varying places. Best thing I got? 17% cargo expander.

I like the drop rates better. It's a hard line, too much drops, and everyone has them. Too little and no one can get them.
But these are rare items, they should be rare! As in not droping often at all. I kill 30 and 20K's for days and I have gotten some cool stuff since the patch..Dual Diodes, some cap rechargers. Not like the old days...when I'd find like 5 CU's a day...oh the memories.... ---------------------------------------

Well things like 250 Gauss are getting quite rare too, since now most Ascribers are dropping useless Carbides and Compressed 250s. --- soonÖ |

*sighs* If you can sit and kill those top-level pirates 'all day long' then they aren't exactly that much harder, are they?..

Get off the treadmill and you'll have more fun.
Who cares if the next guy has a 2% better rate of fire? Who cares if he can carry 800 more cargo in his bestower? Who cares if he is richer?
Sit back and enjoy the ride. Don't rush to the finish line. There's nothing past it.

i'd agree the rare drops should be kept rare. You still can find cool stuff if you are persistant. The only thing that should be improved(imo) is destribution of those rare items amongst the pirates. I mean right now i can go in far off dead end systems and hunt 40-30k pirates and have the very same chance of finding a rare item as if i was hunting 30-40k pirates 2 jumps from my base. Kind of ridiculous if you ask me. Also, adding some really tough pirates(so tough - so that you can only take them out with lots of people working together) with high probability of dropping rare loot would be a good idea. I mean its not like we are trying to invent a bicycle here, this system have been implemented in countless rpgs and always seem to appeal to people.

That, more than anything, is the way I am trying to play the game at the moment. Maybe I'm a masochist but I quite like the recently slowed pace- it means I get to savour every detail

A large scale encounter requiring lots of people to be succesfull would be nice, means people might want to consider wholly different ship setups... Medium Shield Transfer array here i come! (assuming im not being shot at myself)

Good words, enjoy the ride. I stopped HARVESTING isk 100% of my time in EvE simply because it sucks compared to hunting a bit, mining some, trading for a day, laughing in chats and just enjoying the ride. The rare stuff still exists. I got one mod heavy beam, 2 XeCl, 2 Skadi sinks and a couple of rare expanders since drop-patch. Although I find myself enjoying EvE more and more as I slow down a bit. EvE is IRC with good graphics imo :)

they system is fine as it is, persistnat hunters who dedicate there time to it will reap the rewards.Only yesterday i found 5 mill plus of good gyros, plus some really good rare abs, fair enough it did take me all day to find around 5 rare items, but thats how it should be, i made alot on the bountys as well, so im happy, the only people i can see this really affecting are those that just go hunt for an hour, wanting to make a quick buck. Sorry it dont work like that no more. ================================================

Yeah with all the top modules getting more and more rare, the stuff carried on thoraxes and moas is often worth more then ship itself :P

Lol so true. I would rather hunt 2k pirates in .6 system and get a ton of arcjet afterburners than hunt .0 system and get 50 medium shield boosters or 100mm reinforced crapola.

"Get off the treadmill and you'll have more fun."
Ok so I should enjoy hunting for hours on end getting loot I have absolutly no use for?
Whats the point in hunting now? Bounty. Thats a joke. I can make 4 mil an hour mining or doing trade runs.
Hunting is good for one thing. Equipping your ship with stuff other than NPC noob gear.
With the decreased drops there is no way Im gonna spend days looking for that one rare item thats 2% better than the basic NPC version. Its pointless, and a waste of my time.
If you consider other MMORPG's where your character lives for years and you have very little chance of actually losing your items I can understand "rarity of items", but eve continually recycles itself. People loose ships/guns daily through NPC/PC Pirates.
Long with rare drops now we have incredible price inflation. 10mil for a heavy mod beam is just plain stupid. Who in their right mind is gonna spend weeks/millions attempting to equip a ship full of super rare items only to loose them to say... LAG, being stuck on an asteroid, cap bug, warp bug, or heavens forbid a blockade.
These drop rates are not equal to the rate at which ships/equipment are lost, they need to be improved.

You misunderstood completely what he said. he meant stop hunting for hours on end and go do something you enjoy.
Now if you enjoy hunting for hours on end...

Exaclty, the game is diversifying and I am loving it personally, now there is a lot to do, agents are not AS ****ty, there is content, there are warzones, there are trade routes, drugs, exploring is useful, there is a whole bunch of stuff that simply contributes to show you that NO, you cannot all be driving titans in 2 months time, with the best weapons, fighting peopel with the same. Stop tryign to reach the top, this is not ONLY a race forward, you can go sideways also

Its really funny when I spend all night hunting and get 10 to 12 cargo loads of crap loot. Then I just come to the aid of a few corpmates that are mining and being attacked by NPC's that are worth 1/10th what I was hunting before and they drop a CU mining laser or a cargo extender with 24.2%. The risk of going to higher end NPC hunting is not worth the rewards right now. I can go to a system close to me and hunt NPC's that its a flip of the coin if I can really kill them before they get me. I have taken the chances and ended up with nothing to show for but about 10 min of listening to my armor and hull repairer honk continuously back at the station. SNIGG is now officially open for business. We are a merc corp looking for contracts. For more info click below http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=68313 |

What MMO's? All the ones I've played I have died a ton of times, and most people never took their really good things out of their bankbox/strongbox/house/whatever.

Lexington Cabot Please list the MMORPG's you played. Sounds to me like you played AO for 5 years.
Every single MMORPG I played I have never lost anything. The closest one was EQ as you actually had to get your body and gear.
Its pointless to argue on this point anymore as it wont change anything. If the game design states that you "will" loose your ship/skills/items then they need to be able to be replaced without wasting 50+ hours or a huge pile of cash.
For those who say "try not to get to the top the fastest", Im not. I hunt. That is what my character is designed to do.
I "can" mine/trade/agent, but I find that hunting is my most enjoyable past time. However, I do get exceedingly annoyed with pulling junk loot after junk loot for all my hard earned time.
As I mentioned before I "could" be far more successful if I mined or traded instead of wasting my time recycling Medium Beam Laser #56, or Medium Shield booster #235.
As usual CCP dropped the nerf hammer too much and basicly made pirate hunting a worthless cause.
