Edited by: Spartan III on 28/09/2005 11:38:12 Hi, I am new to this game being 1 month old, and was wondering which ship would be better for soloing level 3 and 4 missions. It would seem that the Apoc would be the obvious choice, but them I think of all those little frigates and cruisers that fly around in missions, and realize the Geddon has much more drone space for handeling them little npcs.
So which is better for missions? _______________________________________________ Member - [CHRST] Christian Fellowship Foundation

I would strongly advise getting in a plated maller with good skills or at least a prophecy for level 3 missions. There are pleantly of maller and prophecy setups that are capable of soloing level 3s.
Getting into a battleship after 1 month is a little too early, skills make many times more difference than the ship you are flying in.
When you have the skills up to fly a battleship better, I would say the apoc is the better ship for level 4 due to its superior tanking, again the ship-sticky thread at the top should help with setups. Drone bay of apoc is enough to deal with the small'uns.

It is no longer possible for 1month old guys to solo l4 mission... (at least not the deadspace missions)
Apoc is a lot better ship for doing missions so get apoc instead of geddon.

Geddon has high DPS. But crap PG and CPU, so you'll be using pulse lasers and going in close, which means you need to tank, and Geddon isnt great at it. Its got the extra low, but not a great cap.
Apoc does less damage but you can tank it forever. It has loads of grid so you can fit Mega Beams and Tachs to snipe, and you can fit a minimal tank setup and a load of dmg mods when you do this. Its also got the best cap in the game.
Apoc is the better NPC ship, or perhaps the more user friendly one anyway.

Edited by: Spartan III on 28/09/2005 11:45:59 Thanks, I am flying a scorpion, an doing level 3 missions right now. I got into my battleship after 2 1/2 weeks of playing, and it works better than a Ferox for level 3 missions as it can tank a lot better. What type of drones should I use. I was thinking heavys, but I was told they are a bit slow against rogue drones and frigates. I plan on training up drones 5 and drones interfacing IV, so with 9 drones should I go with mediums?
P.S. Using a scorpion in level 3s is serious overkill... _______________________________________________ Member - [CHRST] Christian Fellowship Foundation

for frigates and drones, yes medium drones will perform better on the whole.
the medium drones can't take as much punishment, but can hit more consistently and move much faster than heavy drones when fighting the small(er) classes of ships.

So with the 150m3 drone space the Apoc has would it be a good idea to use 4 heavy drones and 5 mediums? I will be able to use all my drone space and have max drones out (me training for drones V and drone interfacing IV). _______________________________________________ Member - [CHRST] Christian Fellowship Foundation

Yes, that's the best way to fill your drone bay.
And as said, Apoc is better than geddon for handling NPCs.

HACs and Assault frigs can't handel level 4 missions like the blockade one, and Battleships can... _______________________________________________ Member - [CHRST] Christian Fellowship Foundation

Forget a second races battleship at a month old.
You need to train engineering, electronics, weapons upgrades, energy management, energy systems operation to name but a few.
Those are just the base skills before you look at gunnery and / or missiles.
Add to this the fact that amarr ships armour tank - different skills from shield tanking.
I'm not saying level 4's cant be done by new people, but you may be in over your head.

I think this guy is full of it. 2-1/2 weeks. He can't make all that money as fast. Alspo skill wise it takes more than a couple weeks in a battleship. Simply Impossible. If I say.. he is marcoing or he is a new GM or some peole gave him 50-80mil.

#1 Sorry, I was actually 3 weeks old I just realized when I finnished getting the ISK and skills trained for my Scorpion.
#2 I looted a 50mill implant off a kestrel in a level 2 mission, although I bought a ferox a bunch of mods and than lost it all in a level 3 mission. I got the insurance I paid for so I started at 25 mill. I decided not to get another Ferox, and instead just make money doing insta-trade runs.
#3 All I had to train from where I was at with my ferox was 1 more cruiser level (leve3-4) and Battleship 1, so it took me a week (2 weeks of playing to 3 weeks of playing) to get cruiser level 4 and Battleship level 1 trained.
I am not full of "it" I just learned how to do insta-jump trade runs making 350k profit each run taking 2 jumps there, and 2 jumps back on my route that I did 3 hours a day except on 2 saturdays which I did it about 10-12 hours each. The skills were the easy part as I trained straight through to battleships from the beggining. (only takes Caldari Battleship1, Caldari Cruiser 4, Caldari Frigate 4, and Spaceship command 4 to be able to fly a Scorpion...
I just pwned you whatever that means _______________________________________________ Member - [CHRST] Christian Fellowship Foundation

Are you telling me a Maller is better then a Prophecy??? I dunno what you've been smoking but I know that I couldn't do some complexes in my Maller, but could handle them fine in a Proph. Proph is just easier to tank, does more damage and has longer range then a plated Maller.

ok, you really need more skill points before running lvl 4 missions. Do lvl 3s you can make 10m+ an hour.

Ive been playing for 20 days, and if I hadn't trained all of my learning skills to 4, an then started work on Engineering skills like a good little boy, I could've both had the skills to fly a battleship (badly, which is why I didnt) and afforded to buy one right now.
Just because you may have not gotten off to a great start in the game, don't assume other people aren't capable of playing to a higher level than yourself :)

technically it may be possible to be flying a battleship after 2 1/2 weeks but it would be fitted with frig or cruiser size mods, have poor or little actual tanking abilities and would have to be carefully looked after as would be an easy kill.

Edited by: Spartan III on 29/09/2005 13:35:13 Yepers I have heavies on it although i could have torps in a day only needing Heavy Missiles 3 and Torpedos 1. I don't want them though as I am doing level 3 missions and the only battleships are in the bonus stages of extravaganza missions. I eat cruisers though.
My learning skills are all 3 except Instant recall 5,(just finnished level 5 yesterday) Analytical Mind 4, and Learning 4. _______________________________________________ Member - [CHRST] Christian Fellowship Foundation

You can fly a BS in as little as 6 days on a new char. But you wont be doing anything with it...probably not even mining. And obviously you would need to have someone funding you.
