1. Are all current grav sites, ie grav sites in high sec, null sec, low sec, and WH space going to be located via the on board scanner rather than probes now?
2. Does this apply to ladar sites also or only grav sites?
3. If asteroid belts were to be completely removed then what would take the place of ratting and how would that work?
If CCP could let us know, or if this was mentioned already and I missed it or it was mentioned at one of the events not broadcast, then perhaps someone who knows this from the community.
Thanks in advance. Interesting changes on the horizon for sure. 1. yes, as per the dev blog. 2. only grav, ladar will still need probes. 3. rats still spawn in anoms, so people would fly to anoms, not belts. at least, that's how the sov grav sites in null work, never mined a high sec one, never found one worth the time.
Ok nice, thanks for the reply. Mining in WH space is going to be really nasty now, no local, and also no indication of probes, not that it will make much difference now anyway with the new easy mode probes. Only way will be to have the system completely locked down. But I think this will be fair due to the massive boost high end ores are getting. So all in all, this should be very interesting. :) |

Danbar Roth wrote:With the coming expansion and the movement of Grav belts to the System scanner and the fancy new graphics for it, is this a push towards the removal of normal belts and the introduction of just grav sites for mining?
Wouldn't be hard to do, remove re-spawn of normal belts after DT and just let them fade out over new eden and bump up the grav site frequency x5 maybe x10
Mebbee. Not that big a deal, if so. Tell someone you love them today, because life is short. But scream it at them in Esperanto, because life is also terrifying and confusing.

I see the asteroid belts in Eve as being analogous to the RL Trojan belts.

I agree, it would be nice if eve implemented things more like the rings of Saturn and our solar systems own asteroid belt, as well as local comets, with 'warp beacons' being anchored in various 'safe' places. path-+find-+er (pthfndr, p+ñth-)n. 1. One that discovers a new course or way, especially through or into unexplored regions.

well dont worry there will still be static belts but only in galente space for resons i shall not disclose. tbh expect all astroid belts to be gone in the near future replaced with annoms... mining for miners and what fw complexes used to be like mini missions with a faction lp payout. Ok, so you've corrected my spelling,do you care to make a valid point? -áThere are no stupid Questions... just stupid people... |

Trojan belts aren't exactly dense eitherGǪ Indeed, the real asteroid belt is mostly empty volume, with rocks far removed from each other.
TBH, I'd like to see the rocks being very widely separated in-game, with finding a rock being like finding a gold vein, complete with 'gold rush' reaction, as hundreds of miners race to exploit it. Of course, the rock would have to be a LOT bigger than current rocks, or have a much higher yield.
Actually, highly-variable yield would add to the fun, and make rock scanners worth something again. Tell someone you love them today, because life is short. But scream it at them in Esperanto, because life is also terrifying and confusing.

GǪor they could just replace the asteroid GÇ£beltsGÇ¥ with junk fields GÇö discarded stations, all those bits of wrecks that get left behind when you've salvaged ships for parts, junk thrown into space because who needs a landfill in their back-yard GÇö and then give the barges magnets and alloy mulchers that chomp through the hulls and bulkheads and turn them directly into minerals.
That would explain why they come in flocks and why they can be depleted and refilled. GÇ£If you're not willing to fight for what you have in GëívGëí you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.GÇ¥

I hope they do.
I still remember the first day of EVE. I was asked to mine a little and I was certain that I would have to search for the rocks. I was quite disappointed to find out that all I had to do was to right click in space and warp to whatever permanent belt I pleased. No |

mining being moved to anoms like ice is inevitable. ice is a trial run for asteroid belts. it'll be part of ccp's "remove downtime" initiative.
those who think it won't happen are somewhat in denial, i think. |

you do realise that won't change if asteroid belts are moved to grav sites. you'll just open your scanner instead of right clicking. |

Then the belt is mined out and you go to the next system. You dont even need to warp in to check the belts if theres any ore left!!
Hah! A buff already!!

On a bit of a serious note, someone mentioned Comets, I think that would be a cool thing to add that would have to be scanned down with a probe launcher and contain higher quality ice and other valuable materials as well. |

i dont even mine but hell yeah i love the idea. to add to that i think planets and stations and gates should be the only warp-to's u can see on screen itd make things way more interesting. and i wish there was some increase in the need to slowboat. i always imagined waiting and springing a trap on a convoy all traveling together and spying on em waiting for the right moment but instead its just gate, warpto next gate, next gate.. etc. i know u can gate camp or catch em on camp but its just not the same.. =( |

In a perfect EVE there would be no belts. There would be no Level 1 to 4 Mining missions. There would be sec based Mining missions that spawned mission belts with Ore according to Sec status. So a current level 4 would be something to the effect of a sec .5 mining mission and the mission belt would populate enough ore to complete the mission 3 times. One for the agent, 2 for the miner. For those that don't want to use the agent lead system to find belts, there will be Grav belts.
Just my view. |
