Implants increase your attributes and as a result do reduce learning time.
However each implant only affects a single attribute, the one you had will increase your memory attribute, therefore only skills which have memory listed as a primary or secondary attribute will have their learning time affected.

There are only 5 attributes and thus 5 different type of attribute implants, these are the ones listed under implant slots 1-5 on the market. The different implants within each slot (and costing different amounts) give various increases to your attibutes.
A limited implant gives a 1 point boost A limited - beta a 2 point boost A basic gives a 3 point boost A standard gives a 4 point boost
To see what atribute an implant modifies either right click on it and select show info or click the info button next to the item on the market. Then select the attributes tab and look for the line that says something like "perception modifier 3 points" for example. That tells you the attribute it affects and by how much.
They can be expensive if you buy them, especially the higher level ones but they can make a considerable difference in the amount of skillpoints you gain, especially over longer periods of time.
In case you aren't aware it is worth mentioning that you lose any implants you have plugged in your pod gets destroyed.

If you got a memory implant it will save time on all skills that need memory as an attribute to train them.
If you were training "gunnery" for example, that uses perception and willpower. A memory implant would not have helped it.

Note also that you won't see much of an improvement until you get to level IV or V training. Then it can cut off hours and days respectively. But Defa's advice is even more important.

Also, plugging in an implant will not affect the skill currently being trained. You have to stop and restart training for it to take effect.
Also, note that if you unplug an implant, it will be destroyed. So if you get a better one, you can't unplug and sell the old one, and if you intend to do PvP, you can't unplug to protect it from a podkill.

Well you can't plug in an implant while training. You need to stop the training first even if it's a hardwiring implant.

Not to go O/T but I was also curious about Attribute enhancers, but I was going to buy a few to help my training but there is a skill called "Biology" and its quotes:
Quote:
The science of life and of living organisms. 20% Bonus to attribute booster duration per level.
Does that mean they run out after a certain amount of time or have I got the wrong type of idea?

Biology is a for boosters, which are different than implants but haven't been put into the game yet.
Also the percent training speed increase is the same whether you are training a skill to level 1 or level 5, it just appears to make more of a difference since level 5 takes so long. Implants do help training times which is why the good ones cost so much.

I haven't plugged an implant in for over a year and a half, so I guess that changed. I'm pretty sure you used to be able to do so.

Then you remember wrong.
It has never been possible.
