We caught the CEO of deathstar international "Mike Vader" after he joined our corp under an alt character. This was back in June, he was friendly and we were all very kind, got him hooked up with a merlin right after he joined. Well last week we were suddenly jumped by a group of three cruisers including Mike Vader, armaa, and ChipSkywalker. The funny thing is that we were jumped at the very edge of 0.0 space, no way in hell anyone would know we were there, because it was a random location picked shortly before the mining trip was planned.
All three of these guys warped into the belt I was sitting at defending the miners, and they looked like they were in attack stance. One of our guys in a scorpion warped in behind them we had no hostile intentions towards them, and my guys were ordered not to even lock onto them. They warped out swiftly after the 2nd battleship warped in and proceeded out of the system. Of course that made me very suspicious as to how they knew we were there in the first place. About 10 mins later I hear a yell from one of the other members saying that his indy has been destroyed and he has been podded by the same three guys. They apparently jumped two systems from where we were and camped the incoming gate. Of course after that they booked to the closest station with us in slow battleships following behind the best we could.
All was quiet, I was given several threat e-mails and then about 3 hours later after undocking from the local station I was jumped by all three of them. The battle lasted about 8-10 mins with Mike constantly docking over and over repairing his blackbird then attacking again. I was able to get two of the cruisers down to shreds of structure, and was able to take out the MOA. They backed off with much name-calling.
The point of this overly long story is that very soon afterwards I noticed that I was setting up another mining run in the corp channel with some other members, and the funny thing was I had just said that right before I undocked, and then warping in and attacking.. That proved beyond doubt that someone in my corp channel was spying on us. I had a list of 3 people I watched very closely and after watching logging events from their members and our members, I was able to pinpoint exactly who the spy was.
It's really lame that you were treated that way by your corp. Above is a perfect example of how people will work their way into your corp to spy on your plans and conversations. A whole new structure of security has been added to the corp since this event, and we have declared war on Deathstar (who I might add are also the corp starting the Trade Federation). Its come to a point in the game were I have to be extremely careful when processing applications, it's nothing like interviewing people in real life.
I'm not sure I will be "as" cautious as the corp you were talking about above, but I will be watching things more closely from now on. Thankfully all we lost was an empty indy. We are currently running around trying to find this corp and punish them for their actions and swear ridden threats.
