Hello guys,
I was listening to a friend list all the pods they were killing of people just autopiloting or hanging around in space in their pods. That got me to thinking - why not support an idea for a taxi service in eve? It would have to be a specific ship type, but people in their pods would be the cargo. They don't have to autopilot to their destination, the taxi driver gets a big honking paycheck, and the pirates can try to get these taxis for mass pod kills - this would lead to caravan guards being hired, etc. which would make for exciting battles.
Just an idea. I hope the devs see this! :) |

+1 I support this endeavour.. Just imagine it, you could even steer a bunch of expensive implant wearing eggers right into a trap if they're bounty's juicy enough! |

Ignoring Tuttomenui's ignorance (pods are capsules, which are essentially cockpits, not 'ships';
Rorquals, as well as I believe titans, and (maybe supercarriers?) have the ability to store jumpclones inside of their clone vat bays, and freight them around, so pilots can jump to that ship, when the clone vat bay is activated.
I think perhaps if they did something like this for the orca, it might satisfy what you are looking for? If you are looking for lowsec-null service though, a rorqual already does this job. |

the ship is already there. It's called a carrier. CCP just needs to implement proper docking. |

I don't hate this idea. But it does raise a question...
Would this not ruin the JC system since you could just carrier job pods around New Eden instead? Looks like the yellow quafe shirt is more popular than I thought ;) |

A capsule has a warp drive and its own navigational engines. Thus it is a ship,an escape pod ship but a ship none the less.

I wonder... can you put pods into orca? or carrier? mmm... *imagines hundreds of pods dropping out of blown up orca in low sec* |

Karig'Ano Keikira wrote:I wonder... can you put pods into orca? or carrier? mmm... *imagines hundreds of pods dropping out of blown up orca in low sec* An empty capsule that is assembled can be placed in the fleet hanger of an orca, so any ship with a fleet hanger would work. You used to be able to launch them into space but it is no longer possible.
If they are packaged they will go into any cargo hold large enough, And into containers. They will not go into a maintenance hanger on the orca or any other ship with one. They can not be contracted unless packaged and inside a container =). |

LOL, the idea brings a tear to my eye. Imagine IF pods could be scooped like drones to a drone bay (but lets call it pod bay, and industrial ships that are actually labelled as troop carriers in their information screen have a sizable pod scoop).
ANYWAYS
So here goes that someone smartbombs a writhing mass of miners afking, leaving pods intact.. someone scoops all the pods up, and flies them somewhere "fun" when the AFKers come back to their desk they find themselves stranded floating in space in some safe spot in a C6 wormhole.
That would be so much joy i cant word it. For sport, an alternative idea would be to deliver them to the furthest reaches of goonspace, and there hence starts the next round of 'fox hunting'. 7 pods, which one will make it home!?

only problem with this is technical -- you can't have >1 player inside the ships at the same time, otherwise the hamsters revolt. One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia |

This has been suggested a lot. I suggested something similar a couple of years ago and the response back then was it was technically impossible because of the code. Herping your derp since 19Potato --á[Proposal] - Ingame Visual Adverts |

why pods? I rather see it so that you could ask someone to freight your jump clone. Jump clones simply would need to be items in your cargo. After that you simply would either move it yourself with stealthy ship.
I also would like to get rid of the silly limitation that we have for having more than one clone in one station.
not completely signed, good idea but as explained I would not use your type of approach. |

Thanks to everyone for their replies, and to the dev for moving this to the proper area. As a returning noobnugget, I wasn't sure if something similar (e.g. clone transport) was already implemented. Mostly my thinking was with in line with this:

As for this idea already having been stated before (thanks to Stegas and Bruce for letting me know), I apologize for bringing it up again. Maybe the more that different people bring it up, the more likely it is to build steam and be put in for more shenanigans. :P |
