The Battle of Caldari Prime was a month ago, but there was much behind the scenes that still haven't come out. In this new chronicle by CCP Falcon, we look at the planning that built up to Operation Highlander and the final days of the CN Shiigeru.

Sundarbolt wrote:Well, I have to say I am disappointed in Heth as this story, and he himself, unravels, though I can't decide whether to call it disappointment in his actions or his portrayal.
It would appear that he may be starting to become a little desperate to assert his authority. Who knows where things will go from here.
Thanks for the kind words guys, they're very much appreciated. I have to admit that putting work out there in front of everyone makes me a little nervous.

Saana Nupuunen wrote:Overall, very nice. Explaining that DUST soldiers are superior because they are cloned felt weak. It would have been better to explain why that copied brain is better rather than just telling that it's cloned.
- Perhaps clones are superior physically due to purpose-grown battle bodies?
- Their clones can be implanted (thought interfaces, targeting computers, etc.) more cost efficiently, because skills to use those implants are not lost upon death, unlike on mortal soldiers?
- Or that they can be implanted at all, because the clones can be grown around the implants, instead of needing to do difficult brain surgery?
- Or that the soldiers had time to practice the assault several times with live ammunition, because "death is obsolete"?
Of course, it is probably wise to steer clear of trying to explain how skill training works. Stating "you are in a computer game" is pretty bad in an in-character chronicle. Unless the people involved happen to be on a full VR environment. In my opinion, other than the exposition on clone soldiers which are cloned, the actions scenes were good. The very beginning and the very end were quite excellent.
Thanks for the feedback, and for the kind words.
I didn't dig too deeply into the biological differences between standard troops and DUST mercs because this chronicle wasn't intended to be an infodump or serve as a tech article.
It was intended just as a narrative to show March 22nd from a selection of vastly different viewpoints. CCP Falcon -á || -á EVE Community Team -á || -á EVE Illuminati -á || -á Live Events Organizer

This line alone has interesting developments, is there a faction out there who controls CONCORD agents? Yanala went out sticking it to Heth, that was beautiful to read and the best part of the Chronicle imo. Just a shame Heth didn't join her in drinking some tea.
As the two ECAID members said, they were not operating on behalf of CONCORD. There is reference to where they're from in the chronicle, and their motivations for helping.

Yanala's status or whereabouts is not currently known to the public. Neither are her heroic and selfless actions in ensuring the best possible level of safety of those on the ground given the conditions she was faced with.
