Define "newbie". How much do you have to spend and what skills do you have so far? It's possible to earn a fair sum of cash and train a number of skills in your first few days.
Unless you loot something better from a pirate, I'd recommend either a pair of 125mm Scout railguns or one Scout and a Standard Missile Launcher. For ammo, go with Bloodclaw missiles and either antimatter ammo (high damage but shorter range) or iridium ammo for good range and decent damage. For your medium slots, I'd recommend a Shield Booster (Small Shield Booster 1 if you have the skill or Civilian if not) and a Civilian Afterburner, for the low slot use an armor repairer (Small 1 ior Civilian).
It's difficult to advise you on an exact loadout because varying skills and uses might change that - but there is a good sticky on ship loadouts elsewhere in the forum.
Good luck, pilot.

I would go with most of the above, BUT I would take a Power Diagnostic instead of the armour repairer ------- Bringer of Squirrelly Wrath - Foaminian Card Cult

I would recommend not flying a Condor in the first place. Get a Merlin or prefrably a Kestrel. Convo me in game I give you a couple. ------------------------------------- You are all worthless, and weak.

For quick courier runs not requiring lots of cargo, a Condor is perfect. Low skill requirements initially, and with a 1mn AB as part of your package it exceeds 600m/s easily.
I have a "newbie junk" setup:
150mm rail 75 mm rail
1mn AB I Small shield booster
Named cargo expander
For combat this won't do much, but for what I use it for in missions it was essentially free, it is very fast if I don't have instas, and it lines up for warp in a hurry. The only shortfall I have seen is on long warps across big systems I don't have the cap to make it in one jump.

He Demarcus, if you are in the giving mood, I like to get some too! Money or skills, which are hideously expensive, and then preferably the 'learning'skills. If you have some unused cyberware lying around, I would not mind getting that too. That's about it, I think. But I'll get back if I think of something else. . . . . So where can I pick it up?

Yes I am! Really, if someone would give me the means to get some implants or the really expensive skills, I'll gladly accept that. Don't need ships, I'm happy with what I have. Although currently I have only a pod... But since I still fly only frigates, I can buy one without difficulty.

Most of the expensive skills require less expensive skills at high levels so you wouldn't be able to make use of them anyway.

Shoshi, I am not sure I understand you? Some learningskill I have the requirements for, but not the multimillion cash to buy them. Or do you know of an empty storehouse full of knowledge gathering dust? I could do something useful with that... (hurriedly) Allinthenameofscience, ofcourse. I am not a common thief!
Jacyro, hopefully it is temporary; sometimes you say informational thingies.. And bear in mind, I am a newbie, I don't know any better!

How what happened? The begging for implants and advanced skills?
I'm not sure what motivated that, either.

I referred to the double posting. For the other: plain greed! And imatience. And, you know, you never know what a good beg may yield...

For courier mission there is better ship with min requirment: executioner High - 2 Nm what (low cap use guns like hybrid or projectile) Med - 1NM AB or 1NM MWD Low - 3xNanofibers. And can be used for combat too but with AB only, just pick frigs and orbit them at 3-4 KM with AB on they can`t hit you most the time. 1 of the nanos can be changed for S armor repair.
Best condor setup for frig fight is 1 Blaster and 1 rocket - high Med - 1 Shield Boost and 1NM AB Low Nanofiber or Overdrive. ---------------------------------------- Ancient Japanese saying: The one who owns the minigun, fears not! |

The blaster/rocket combo is nice for damage but it has such a short range that you'll soon find yourself swarmed with enemies and podded before you know it. I learned that from experience.
