Note i'm not going to make smartarse comments about my love for oveur in this post (other than that).
Thats the first time in my time playing this game that i've seen such clear answers. Is it possible that the Devs when realising a problem has arisen to post something on the forums letting people know exactly whats going on? Its certianly given me a much better insight as to where our money is being spent.
Anybody who has a job more than likley works with IT in someway shape or form, and a majority of them should know what the order process can be like with taking time and alot of effort to complete. The fact they're talking about solid state storage means they're obviously way ahead of current everyday technology. For those that dont know what it is, i'll try and explain a lil bit. No more spinning discs, it acts more like a USB Pen on a much larger and faster scale. Instantly accessing data and moving it at a much faster rate. All you gaming geeks that thought SATA was awesome... this stuff is unbelivable.
Again, thanks for the great post and i hope you will continue to make such posts in the future maybe even without requests for them.

Yep, Oveur linked to the kit elsewhere, and it's some sweet stuff. It's basically a box full of RAM (up to 136Gb per box) with backup power and hard drives. It's not quite as good has having 136Gb of RAM directly on your motherboard, but it's a lot better than an array of hard drives - the seek times alone improve by orders of mangnitude.

The fibre channel array interface makes SATA look like a morse code key anyway, the solid state boxes can just saturate it on their own, rather than needing a whole stack of hard drives. SATA goes 150Mb/s per channel, the fibre channel array connections on the solid state boxes go more like 2Gb/s.
I didnt wanna get geeky about it =)

Oveur/Kieron/any dev.
Rather than having one of these long long posts, is it possible you guys could setup a page that allows us to check on the status of things... I.E. estimated completion dates for upgrades, patches, planned changes (not just on the patch side) and hopefully cut alot of the questions that this thread and future threads might queiry. I understand it might actually be more of a pain but you guys must have spent 2-3 hours on these threads each day just answering peoples questions. Perhaps a page with this info could be setup even if its just to reasure players that their money is being spent wisely!?
I know it sounds like the dev blog but atm all you have on there is the future patch updates, no estimated dates etc etc. If you dont give people the option to reply to these notices on the page directly you wont get pages of moans on it. That can be kept to forums leaving the ISD's to do their job and notify you if you guys need to look at something. ^_^

I for one, would not want to be a balancing Dev - good luck to the lad tho, he had some good ideas for minmatar ships, which I hope he goes ahead with. Speed back tho! Its all we got :)
You mean other than the most powerful guns in the game!?
