I cant add to what has been said before against this idea other than to say it is a CATASTROPHICALLY BAD IDEA.
Ideas such as this have ruined dozens of MMOGs. YOu cant accomodate the lazy players and hope to have a challenging deep game. Nor can you shorten travel time in eve without totally tearing the fabric of eve to hell. --------- The words "Exciting" and "Safe" are mutually exclusive; pick one.

The whole Idea of project rebirth is an enormously horrible one. All the abilities of clone jumping without the detrement of not being able to use implants. People will be popping all over the place like popcorrn from yulai to deep into 0.0 and with no danger whatsoever. It would trash the eve economy and make wars trivial bs. "Oh corp x is in system y, everyone rebirth to system z and we will jump in." It will remove all tactical aspects of combat.
In essence I think it would do serious damage to eve. --------- The words "Exciting" and "Safe" are mutually exclusive; pick one.

Originally by: Mak'shar Karrde I'll direct my concern along the slippery slope argument. (I 'm only arguing against implant 'insurance').
You're now willing to reduce the risk in PvP to appeal to those that are afraid of it. If these people flock to 0.0, how long do you really think it will be until they're making petitions on the forum with the aim to reduce the risk further?
Tech II ship insurance? What an inconvienience! Tech II module insurance? I bet people could get behind that. Limit the amount of attackers that can deal full damage on a target? Oh... Nevermind.
I've no doubt that if you introduced all these things that a lot more people would be fighting it out in 0.0. It's all about appealing to the lowest common denominator, EVE is (currently) above that.
I realise i'm exaggerating but hopefully you get the point. I've already been through one 'Age of Shadows', i'd rather not do so again.
Life is only as sweet as death is painful.
You arent exagerating. There are multiple games that have set precedent in this area to their own demise. Part of eve is the distance of space. Destroy that and you will destroy eve. --------- The words "Exciting" and "Safe" are mutually exclusive; pick one.

Consider the problem of Project Rebirth in context to the current server issues. The problem is that if a player can hop anywhere in the galaxy station to station without ill effects such as loosing implants then there will be a strong motivation to create purchasing supercenters such as the old time Yulai but 1000 times MORE crowded.
The reasoning behind this thought is grounded in the fact that players want the cheapest hardware for thier buck but the trip of going to empire, then back with the gear encourages them to use the local markets. This encourages exporters to move goods to those local markets, mark them up and resell them there. Rebirth has the potential to change all of that.
If everyone can instantly pop to Yulai and have their implants intact then we have effectively halved their journey and thus reduced the amount of markup they are willing to pay to potentially 0. This means that people will be able to get everything they want at the lowest possible price and destroy all semblence of local economies.
Furthermore, non hauling traders would see this as an ultra boom in business. Now they would be able to pop all over the galaxy to buy and sell items. They need only one station in each region to dominate entire markets all by themselves.
Security wise it would be almost impossible to control an area of space anymore unless you had 24 hour patrols into a region and even then, the implications are enromous. Players can import hardware to stations just after downtime and other non peak hours. Then when you are in the system fighting some of their corp mates, they can simply rebirth in from 50 jumps away at their agent, jump into a battleship and undock in masse. Blockades would be almost completely irrelevant to strategic warfare.
Performance wise it would be a disaster. Just think of the fact that the clusters are lagging so bad in Oursalert and other places right now. They only have 250 people in zone. What will it be like when that is the gallactic hub and everyone is rebirthing there and we have 5 to 10 THOUSAND players trying to get in the same zone all at once.
I firmly believe that Project Rebirth could singlehandedly destroy Eve in a way that is permanent. I understand the problems that Project Rebirth is supposed to attempt to address but there have to be better ways to address them than with this idea. --------- The words "Exciting" and "Safe" are mutually exclusive; pick one.

Out of curriousity, what the heck does instas have to do with this particularly bad idea? Nothing that I can see. It will do absolutely NOTHING to the use of instas. They will still be needed just as much as before. I think the number of people using clone jumping to join a fleet is vanishingly small. You will have to have somethign to fly to get there.
If CCP think this will affect instas, they have been drinking too much Quaffe. This is a bad idea from start to end and could be an UBER bad idea if they implement it. It could destroy eve. --------- The words "Exciting" and "Safe" are mutually exclusive; pick one.
