Hey everyone, a couple of weeks ago, I released my Eve Online app on the google play market. I didn't make any posts about it anywhere yet though because I wanted to hopefully eliminate any major bugs and also get a few extra features implemented. Well, now I'd like to share the app with you guys and hopefully some of you will find it useful.
Eve Watch for Eve Online --- https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.evewatch
Eve Watch is an alerting service that will send your Android device notifications as it detects any of over 140 different events that can occur in-game. So in essence, the difference between this app and apps like Eden, Aura, and Evanova (love all of them by the way) is that those apps' primary focus is to allow you to examine the state of your characters at any given moment. Eve Watch's primary function is to notify you about things you care about as they happen in-game even when you're not actually playing. The app allows you to control which events you want to be notified about, and how much of a notification you want to receive (off, silent, vibrate, sound) for each.
Some of the events that Eve Watch can notify you about include: - Marketplace orders bought, sold, expired, cancelled, fulfilled - Industrial job completion and delivery - Skill training - War decs involving your corp - Corp structures under attack - Wallet transactions - Eve mail and notifications - Plenty of others
The app currently requires Android 4.0 as a minimum, but I may be looking into lowering that in the near future as many potential users don't currently meet that requirement.
I urge any of you who are able to try the app (it's free and there are no ads). I made this app so I could contribute to the community in a meaningful way because I'm completely awful at the game, but I love it. I believe that Eve Watch can be extremely useful for anyone who plays Eve Online.
Also, if you encounter any bugs or if you have ideas that you believe could make the app better, please don't hesitate to get in contact with me.
If you like the app, please rate it and review it on the android marketplace so it gets more exposure. I'm not receiving any income from this in any way, but I do want my work to find its way to as many users as possible.
Thanks guys!

Not quite. Aura, as far as I'm aware, only does eve mail. Not notifications. Ditto with EveNova Steve Ronuken for CSM 9!-á I'm starting early :) Handy tools and an SDE conversion Twitter: @fuzzysteve on Twitter |

Aren't they bringing out a new API soonGäó i imagine you'll have plans to update this and perhaps improve it when that's released? Seems interesting though, i'll need to check it out. |

Nice work! Sounds awesome. People never appreciate how much work goes into building any solution. I keep meaning to make a program for certain industrial tasks myself, except I never get around to it. "In the age of information, ignorance is a choice." |

Yeah, the CREST API. As far as I know, "soon" has been for a few years, but I haven't followed it that closely. But yeah, when it releases, I'll definitely be trying to integrate it into my app. I don't know much about it, but I'd love to enhance the app with any useful features they provide. |

No, it pretty specifically does something that those other apps don't do: focus on changes, rather on the data itself. Sounds great! Going to give it a shot in the next few days when I get some time to sit down with it. Definitely going to give it a like though as I've always been supportive of people progress Eve outside the game.
One thing however is that I would love a good fitter app. As far as I've seen, Aura is terrible for fitting and I haven't see any that do it well. Would love something where you choose a ship, select a particular module slot, and gives you a list of equipment to pick.
i.e. High Slot > Turrets > Blasters > [Insert blaster here] Right click to change ammo or remove equipment. Then an info page to show the stats of the fit.
Might be too much to ask for mobile devices, but one can dream.
Anyways, great work!! My twitch stream to help new players:

Any chance we can get an .apk of this so we can run it through APK2BAR converter and see if it runs on Blackberry devices? (Aura does, so do most Android apps) |

I like that it's lightweight. Aura is a bit much when all you need is just notifications.
Please don't add too many features in the future, instead, build separate apps for those if you are looking to expand. |

Thanks OP, alerts on market orders would be very useful - I'll check it out. Hooray, I'm l33t! -á(Kil2: "The higher their ship losses...the better they're going to be.") |

Can you do a manual alert check? I.e. a manual API check outside the selected automated time. Hooray, I'm l33t! -á(Kil2: "The higher their ship losses...the better they're going to be.") |

Currently, no, but only because I hadn't thought of that during development. That's a good idea, I'll look into adding it in the next version. No matter what though, the data will only be as up to date as what the Eve API currently provides. Most of the API information on their end updates every 15-30 minutes. |

Looks good, slick interface. Trying it out.
I might suggest an All Off/All On slider at the top of each subcategory. For people like me who don't play around in sov for example, I don't need anything under that heading right now. Not a dealbreaker by any means, my fingers aren't broken. Just QoL |

Don't cave!
If CCP didn't cave to the XP users we'd have tessellation and high-res texture packs already. EVE would be THE benchmark test for graphics.
That being said... I need to upgrade my phone Hey, as a dude that lives in lowsec, you should read my idea on how to "fix" it... in Blog format, complete with a spreadsheet! http://3xxxd.blogspot.com/2012/09/how-to-buff-lowsec.html |
