Every night or so I try to log in for a nice, relaxing session of gate camping. Each night however, there is an increasing number of n00blars passing through the system I am camping. Not alts, but what appears to be real ones. Are n00bs getting more daring these days? Seems like only one i five characters passing through are 04 or older, and tops on in ten are from 03. It¦s a bit like fishing in the spring imo.

or older players are just getting smarter to gate camps, I wouldnt be surprised if Teddybear's recent 0.4 gate camp fiestas put some players on alert.
The way to solve this: We need more pirates and more gate camps, maybe then they will get the picture that they are not welcome there.

SP ingame isn't the end all be all of determining "noob" status. I have a 6 mil SP alt that would clean your clock in his tech II 1200mm equipped tempest. Of course 4.5 million of those SP are gunnery

As a comparative noob myself, I quite often rat hunt in 0.2-0.4 for the cruiser spawns, or nip in to mine some Hemorphite.
Some pirates like to think they are very scary, but actually, most of 0.4 or lower is empty, and most players are friendly.... the scariest things are the NPC cruisers.
All you need is an eye on local and some well placed bookmarks, and then the risk involved is approximately zero.
Though I did lose a Thorax the other day... hehe

just look at what happend to UO becouse of pking! trammel came and there was a 90% drop in feluca! so to much of a bad thing will change a game!

Something you need to remember is nearly every aspect of eve is driven by PvP.
Combat Pilots / Pirates kill ships. Industrialist Build Ships and buy minerals Miners mine minerals
see the connection?
If there was no PvP there would be no eve. Risk > Reward.
So for greater rewards you need greater risks. ----------------- *Decloaks and starts blasting your sig* Applesauce Biotch

Isn't this what you want? Cheap kills without any risk for retaliation or loosing. As a former Noob i also did this. I remeber when Orvolle was 0.4 and MoO used to snipe at the gates there. I took a cheap Velator and jumped in to see some action. It was fun and of no risk to myself or the campers.

Since when did you start to decide where people can go or not go. Everybody can go wherever they want. Sometimes there are consequences and you get killed. No big deal.

They are so much fun...especially when comrpised of battleships that don't want to take the aggro in empire.

I found a guy sitting in his pod at an asteroid belt in Mara. Toon was less than a day old. Just sitting there. I locked, scrammed and podded. No reponse. The only thing I can figure is the player warped in and there weren't any belt rats so he thought it was safe to afk mine?

And what are you going to do then in your gate camp? Make a campfire and sing "Kumbaya"?

it because 03 players have foudn memories of low security and still don't realise thats its pretty much worthless to eb there and has been for a long time, they always want todo mining ops there ect without realising you make alot more mining in a high security system were people will buy your minerals for good price there and there.

As far as I'm concerned, nubs are most welcome in 0.4 and below. They provide endless hours of entertainment by providing those of us just starting out in piracy with easy targets to practice on.
The added bonus is the hilariarity of smacktalk they grace local with.
Perhaps if more nubs read the crime and punishment forum they would see that 0.4 and below is not as safe as they would believe.

Well Empire Pirates like myself like to keep our security rate above -2.0 so we can still move about in secure space. Killing t1 frigs and noobships is simply not worth the security hit since there's virtually no chance the ship will have anything expensive fitted. Ofcourse True Pirates (-10.0) don't have that problem.

It is quite safe, though.
Eye on local, good bookmarks, check map = very low risk
I'm two months in, and I spend 80% of my time in low sec. Its about 40% more profitable to mine there than in 0.5, which in my view is worth the 'risk'.
80% of 0.4 or lower systems are empty apart from the NPC's anyway.
If somone enters local, I warp out the belt.

no im not saying i dont want pvp to be taken out! hey i have had my cyclone taken out when i was rat hunting but some umber guy for no reason! ok thats fine i had inshurance and got my ship back. but he had a 1.9 security rating and he blow the hell out of my ship, and i could not even put a bounty on him.
ok to me this seems wrong, u do a bad thing for no reason there should be something u can do. i cant go out and hunt him down hes got more time, bigger ship and prob, alot more skills.
i think alot of the pep playing right now like pvp, its just the random killing, killing just becouse u are bigger! ive seen it a BS taking out a probe. why did he do this? it was not a corp war it was becouse he was board. and he even said that in local chat! i was like i feel sorry for the guy. i even helped him get a new ship becouse the guy was only 12 days old account!
i think they need something in the game that if u do a bad thing like just shoot some one for no reason u get flaged a pirate for like 24 hours. where now u are red to ever one and not wanted in empire space untill time runs out!
im not saying change 0.0 space thats fine. its just the 0.1 on up, and dont say thats not fair becouse there is alot more 0.0 space then law space in the game!
but just my thoughts, i might be wrong, but then again i talk to alot of pep in the game that say the same thing!

24 hours pirate... Hmm how about they give us pirates the ability to buy Kill-passes at DED/Concord stations that allow us to kill in 0.4- without sec-loss but you're a permanent criminal for a set timeperiod. It'd be like
Pirate> Avast ye' donut-lubber. Many o day hav' I been 'pon the doubl' zero. I'd ver' much like to purchase tis' har keel-pas. Concord> Will that be a day pass or week pass Pirate> Day it be Concord> With License to Pod or just general property destruction. Pirate> Arrr, without teh' squishin'. Me boat aint lock the wretched escap'rafts fast enoug'. Concord> Alright here you go, sir. Have a pleasant day destroying, looting and pillaging innocent civilians.
Ok so that doesn't make any sense at all.. but then again.. Gaterats shooting people at random while concord is right there never made sense to me as well.

I hit the low sec systems by vuorrassi almost all the time (well when missions take me there).
There's maybe a dozen people in each system, tops, and I warp from belt to belt (more than 15km out), and if someone's there, I'm aligned and warped before they could reach me, or I pop the rats and move on. As for mining, just stay aligned with your safespot or a base, and then instawarp if you see someone enter the belt.

The Killer8's post inspired me to translate this convo I had a few hours ago in front of the gate to a certain 0.4 system.
Nukleanis > Avast there! Ye be planin' on takin th' plunge, matey? Would be target > I'm thinking about it, yes. Nukleanis > I be sayin' that ye needs to think a bi' longer. Ye could lose that thar boat o' yers! Would be target > I'm checking the map atm. Looks to be trouble there, allright. Nukleanis > The seas o' Sagain look calm this night matey. Thar be a storm brewin' in Saminer thoug' Would be target > I won't be going to Saminer, but Sagain looks safe enough. Nukleanis > It be a funny coincidence! My here ship be fittin' fer some anti-frig action! I been tailin' ye and Polly here said ye be good shootin' practice fer' me filthy ship's cannons! I would have swabbed me decks with yer corpse! Nukleanis > But I be an honourable sort. I won't be holdin' ye to a ransom. Would be target > Well... thanks for being honest. I don't carry any good loot though. Just some garbage. Would be target > Garbage hauler... oh, the shame... Nukleanis > There be no bother, lad. If ye be fittin' to take the plunge, keep yer patchless eye on local and have yerself a safespot. Filthy dog! Nukleanis > My scally band an' I won't be shootin' at the likes of ye either. Would be target > Thank you.
He decided not to go through in the end. It made me fuzzy and warm inside to have spared him from the fate a certain 3 day old had yesterday. Poor bloke lost his Inquisitor, his pod and even his corpse. A pity, since the person who shot the corpse knows I collect them.
