[1] Must admit, not totaly supprised. From exprriences of soundblaster (first Live, AWE32...) has been mixed. Was found of them uptill recently. EVE: I have a live 5.1 in my box and found the creative latest and greatest drivers would BSOD me playing eve occasionaly, rolled back to M$ drivers and been solid as a rock with full hardware/sound enabled. MUSIC: hada friend with latest and greatest SB and found the latency and ability to not handle the crunch an issue, got a MIA MIDI soundcard (bout 100ú - has fullsize audio jacks 4 of all totaly programable like a mizing desk and and patachable) - plugged it in and the audio quality was amazing. I like the audio on the Soundblaster but this was a totaly different level like going from cassette to CD on a bang and olfsen. Latency wasn;t an issue any more and CUBASE just ran no uiissues/crash's/crunch's. He dosn;t play games so cant comment on its ability to handle that but suspect it will well and truely cut the mustard. So as for people haveing sound issues, concider going and using the M$ drivers, you may lose some functionality and perks but offset with something that works - worth a try. Good luck and you have my totaly sympathy as nothing worse than pspending good money on the latest and greatest only to find it dont do what it says on the tin :(. |
