Ok, this must become boring to the other forum users, but here we go:
Tracking: What I wrote previously in this thread:
Originally by: dalman Optimal range: E 4800 d4 3840
Falloff: E 6000 d4 16000
Tracking (with BS 5) E 0.0625 d4 0.054
Tracking * range at half optimal + half falloff (half optimal from using max ammo, you hit very good at half falloff) E: 337.5 d4: 535.68
A 50% boost to tracking would mean the electron would score better hits than the d425 out to 5-6 km range. Also, you must understand that this is a change that has zero impact on a mega vs tempest fight where both use webbers.
Further, I said 30% on Ions and 0% on Neutrons. If you look at 800vsNeutron there is not a very big range advantage. If you look at d650vsIon the autocannon has quite an advantage in range and just minor tracking disadvantage. If you look at d425vsElectron the autocannon has a huge range advantage and almost the same tracking.
As for fitting... Well, the megathron doesn't have any grid problems (and I gave an example of what it need to be able to fit). So it should be understood that I was talking about CPU. Sure, I'd love to be able to fit armor tank and electrons on a dominix wihout running out of powergrid, but that won't happen cause ppl will scream about overpowered shield-tanked domis.
Dalman, you also have to rememebr you are using an Energy weapon. The focused area of energy will diminish over distance more then a projectile will 'lose its way'. I often agrued the fact with CCP that I cannot see how in the bloody hella laser or any energy weapon for that matter, can have the ranges of a projectile.
But Alas, that is a seperate argument, though it ties in a little to your examples, I hope. Maybe CCP took this "effect" into account for energy weapons(hey CCP, you forgot to use it for lasers too!!!) and this is why the ranges and falloffs are less for blasters. Blasters are not meant for range. They are meant for up close, in-your-face POW!
