I was thinking, lets say i could use both hybrid and projectile, which is better and why. Knowing i have mainly caldary ship command training, does anyone have experience about using medium hybrid weapons for doing missions for fitting cruiser type ships, how good are they?
Right now i'm using a caldary cruiser that uses missiles (caracal class ship)

Caldari ships (some) have hybrid bonuses, that means hybrids will perform better

You can use either, for you atm, no-one is better than the other.
Projectiles fire slow, higher damage, crap tracking, can use up to 3 diff dmg types at once.
Rails fire quicker, average damage, better tracking, always deal 2 damage types (Kinetic/Thermal).

If you have no ship bonus for hybrids, I would go projectiles. Although hybrids have higher DPS then projectiles they use allot of cap. If you use projectiles you can use the "extra" cap to tank or some such thing.

On a minmatar ship, Projectiles are better
On a caldari ship, except for the rare exception (Harpy, Moa, Eagle), missiles are best.
On the exception ships, Hybrids are best.
If your a young caldari pilot looking for what to train, train up the missile skills first, then worry bout hybrids. But if your gonna focus on Caldari your not gonna be using guns much anyways.

whatever you do, dont put lasers on them. had a noob pirate in a merlin firing medium beam lasers at me. laughable, so i didnt kill him.

alternate ammo for projectiles to cover all 4 dmg types.. a combo of EMP/fusion or phased plasma depending on the situation usually works the best for me.
