Please show me which minmatar ammo type deals all 4 types of damage. Oh wait, none do, meaning we have to (gasp!) switch ammo types in battle to be effective!!11 Oh wait I forgot only missile users have to do that right?
As far as the kin damage bonus, people are looking at this wrong. Compare a cerb with heavy IIs to a muninn w/ 720 IIs. The cerb gets a kin damage bonus, while a muninn gets a "bonus to all damage types" (or whatever garbage way you wanna put it). Unfortnately what none of the missile whiners seem to realize is that EVERY AMMO BESIDES EMP DOES SIGNIFICANTLY LESS DAMAGE. Missiles all do the SAME damage, while kinetic gets a boost. For a minmatar ship to do a different damage type, it GIVES UP DAMAGE. Omg... look at that... its the same thing a caldari ship w/ a bonus to kinetic does when it switches damage types.
Basically put another, simpler way (as most caldari whiners outside of j0 are clueless): EMP = Kinetic missiles. Changing damage types from EMP to phased plasma (to use vs amarr t2 ships) reduces total damage from 22 to 20, which is a 10% damage loss. On top of that, only 16 of that 20 damage is thermal damage, meaning that to do thermal to a amarr ship, we lose 3/11 (or about 27.3%, little less cause the kinetic does SOME damage, just not lots) of our max damage we would be doing vs other ships if we used emp. Meanwhile, a missile user can switch from kinetic to thermal missiles, lose max damage on the switch (just like minmatar!!1), but do ALL THERMAL.
We can both pick and choose our damage types, but are basically "penalized" with less total damage if not using our "best" ammo.
Drunkenone, I hear your cry "all turret ammos only do TWO types of damage at most" - without a re-load so getting turret specific bonus to both damage types at once.
Now - show me a missile that does 2 types of damage at once without a re-load??
