I got a friend who does lvl 4 missions in a Raven quite happily, but then he's got a lot of mods that would push the price up over the 110 mil bracket. For Minmatar, if you've got the skills, I'd go for a Typhoon and spend the rest of the money getting the mods to set it up for snipering, use some drones for taking out frigs, and either armour tank it something chronic or go all out with damage mods on the lows.
My personal opinion (not that this is necessarily right) would be to get a tier 1 BS and use the extra cash to buy good kit for it. Spending the money on a Tier 2 with no kit would do you no good.
Feel free to disagree with me people :)

Get a Dominix. You can buy one, insure it, and fully equip it for less than 110M. With good drone skills it does very well on Lvl 4 missions for Gallente.

this isnt in you list, but i would strongly reccomend an AF untill you get to know exactly what your facing. 75% of lvl 4 missions can be done in one, the only possible pros you will have is with 750k+ bs's, as you usually cant break their tanks. t2 blaster harpy's and taranis' do quite well, especially vs the missile spamming guristas.

i strongly recomend you do lvl3,they make more isk,way faster and you will not loose your ship 2x a week.

I'm a Raven fan, which do nicely on L4's.
However the 110 mil you are mentioning is not enough for a Tier 2 BS. You need another 30 mil+ to insure it and then some to equip it.
If you get to that point my advice is to skip all DS missions until you know your way around the ship you choose. Do L3 missions while waiting for the 4hr timer to expire.

You can fly every BS and have 2.5m in gunnery. So what, you have like, level 3 of each large turret skill?

Edited by: B0rn2KiLL on 16/10/2005 00:00:33 well ive posted a thread which no one replied on.. but here 's my suggestion, would take u m,ore than 110 mil but might work better.
use 2 battleships, 1 asa damamge dealer and a sniper, another as a tanker. go in with the tanker, heavyly tanked and lightly armed, take out inties, buildings, cruisers, and weaken the battleships (providing u can quickly switch ships) or lure the battleships AWAY from ur warpin point, so when you comeback with your sniper\ganker, you wont warp directly into the line of fire
EDIT:: use the tanker to take out those pesky turrets that snipe ya, god knows they're painful and apain to deal with.
personally im going to be using a raven as with full damage outfit and a scrop with mega shielding, even thinking of getting it some pirate equipemnt to bufff it up when i got the money..
hope i helped somewhat --- When It Absolutely Positively Has To Be Desotroyed. |

Edited by: anok on 16/10/2005 11:16:47 Use a dominix for lvl 4's
High: 6x best 250 mm you can get (antimatter and have some iridium for those rats that keep their distance) Setup: mid, all cap recharger Low: 2 Large armor repper II, 4 hardners, Cap power relay.
Use Berserkers, usually the 250 mm's have eaten trough the shields by the time the drones arrive
For the cap rechargers: use the best you can get and upgrade as you go. You'll be able to finish the mission with warping out less and less as your cap recharge becomes better. The large armor repper II are indispensable, the tank doesn't hold nearly as well without them. The second large repper is useful in really nasty situations, but you can kill enough rats before your cap gets low when running two reppers. Using only one repper the cap recharges to 1/3th-2/3th depending on your cap skills/rechargers
This setup works very good for me, infested ruin mission i can do easily without warping . Dual 250mm don't seem to work nearly as well as the 250'ies, remember that even in lvl 4 missions the majority of rats are cruisers and frigs. With the 250's you keep hitting cruisers and BS very good even when they are close.

This is just plain silly. With agents sending you out of your base system on missions more often than not, you'll spend more time ferrying your ships back and forth than doing missions.
First off, I think 2 top-to-bottom different setups are overkill. But, even if you want to go that that, you can accomplish the same goal by carrying an alternative set of mods in a medium container around with you in your hold. Get to system with mission, stop at station, switch out modules for frigate killing, come back to station, switch out for BS killing, etc.
But, take my advice, switching out just your weapons is generally enough. No need to start playing with mid and low slots most of the time.

This is not a doable equation. You cannot outfit and insure 2 Tier 1 BS's for 110.
As I see it you have 2 options. Buyt that Dominix and do L3's + non DS L4's or wait til you can afford a raven, insured and fitted. Once you then have gained more isk, you can begin to take bigger risks. raven insurance payout is about 107, insurance 32+ and basic equipment maybe 10-15 mil. So you need about 45 mil in wallet, to be able to buy a new raven if you loose it.
On my Raven I use 3 sieges, 3 cm's, 2 nosses. L T2 SB, amp, ab and 3x hardners. 3 pdu2 and 2 bcu + 6 wasps. It works quite well both as a tank and a sniper

yeah 110 mil isnt enough for 2 tier 1 bses, but it would be acheaper alternatives to uberbilion-isk ships that people are gtting todo those lvl4 missions, a scorp is probably one of the few ships that can shield tank like a monster, passivly. aswell as a geddon with its 7 lows, or a domi. tank to the bone, reduce the number of the inties\cruisers and refit'\get other BS' and finish the job.. its true sometimes the agent would send you a few jumps away but most missions are 1 jump or even same system. --- When It Absolutely Positively Has To Be Desotroyed. |

Get a Dominix its great for Level 4 missions. I have done most of them though you do have to be careful at times. I find an afterburner one of the most useful modules. Currently use 4 350scouts, 2 720s 4 hardeners and 1 large and 1 medium T2 repairer.
Jump in at distance or motor out to 80k ish before getting aggro. Then head away and pick things off as they get in range. Hold them at about 40km where drones can reach too. Rogue drone missions are easy with this setup and approach as they are all slow apart from spiders drones kill quick. Have switched to heavy blasters for missions against caldari navy. Angel Extravaganza is no problem but have not done extra level.
