CCP can we have about 1000 more NPC stations in 0.0 space? The player run stations are too exclusive.

Wow the only worse question that could be topped by that would be to make small towers worth 10isk each and fuel free :P

Doing this would kill 0.0 life as we know it and ergo one of the defining characteristics of eve.

Personally I'd love to see open-to-all player run outposts.
As it stands a handful of large alliances claim all of 0.0 (except Pure Blind) and they kill anyone they don't know and destroy any structure they find that does not serve them. There may be a few exceptions but I ain't come across them. It's a wild frontier without a whole lot of frontier spirit to my mind.
I spent some time out in 0.0 and apart from a few most folk were shoot first then shoot more later. There were some nice rocks but aside from the roving pirates and the gate camps it was just a very long trip to anywhere to trade or build stuff.
Until the minority hold closed borders to the rest of Eve 0.0 will remain as empty as it is. Go there if you want PvP (and hope you don't get your whole corp war decced by a 200 pilot alliance in the process). Research, trade, manufacture, missions and many social, not politically motivated, pilots can be found in the Empires. There are even pirates in low sec so you could say we have everything except Crokite and Ark.
I say a resounding no to more NPC stations. But it would be nice if there were some aliances that felt confident enough to open their borders and outposts and run a real player run empire instead of the 'invite only sandpit'.

Will never happen. People are way too paranoid for that, and I doubt any alliance will ever get the man power to maintain control and order in their space with open borders. The fear and knowledge that you're likely to get blown to hell and back is probably the biggest factor keeping their space secure, other wise empire people would flood into their systems.
Plus its WAY too much fun to say this is mine, get out or die.:P

Heh, was just about to log in when I saw a reply. I should emphasise I think it would be cool if it did happen. I do not think for a moment it actually will. Nobody one group has the combination of power, organisation of will. The last is probably the most important and the most lacking.

No.. The reason why player conquered stations are so exclusive is cause PLAYERS FOUGHT FOR THEM. If you want to go into 0.0 just go ffs, just be prepaired to fight to get in and out. There are plenty of NPC stations in 0.0, hell just look at the number in Fountain and Delve.

This would be very cool. Imagine a large, heavily populated, active region of space, only 0.0 not empire. Controlling alliance could make a huge amount off of refining tax. Too bad no one will ever do it. :( Would love to see it happen.

More NPC stations in 0.0 = bad becasue it makes it even harder than it already is for groups of people (no matter how well-organized) to actually "hold" territory. While I admit having SOME npc stations is only fair, allowing solo players and small corps to get theirfoot in 0.0, adding more would overall be a bad thing. --- I claim Basgerin. |

errr Isn't this what Exodus was supposed to be about? Lots of empire people going to 0.0.
Or is it a case of "Come to 0.0 but not my bit of it unless you want to be my slave and do what I want"

From what I heard not exactly. They opened their border for all and sundry but did not profit from it. They also tried to protect everyone in their space.
While I think the "50 million creds a week for a pass and we won't shoot you" approach is flawed it is still important to profit. Refine taxes, docking taxes, build and sell equipment and ships and sell them in 0.0. These are pretty good ways of making creds. Rather than tell everyone you will guarentee their safety let them protect themselves with maybe a few patrols and camp busting ops here and there.
From what I heard CFS tried to be a non-profit agency that swore to protect complete strangers in their space. Then a whole bunch of alliances and pirate corps ganged up on them around the same time they were having internal problems. That is not a player run empire, it's just a bad idea. At least they gave it a shot though.
I think the biggest problem is the sheer amount of space some alliances claim. A constellation I can see working but resources spread over an entire region seems a little over the top and fragile.
Anyway, it ain't gonna happen. It's much easier do the whole, "this is my sand pit and you can't play" thing. It don't bother me none, been to 0.0, got bored then went back to Empire to have some fun.

Well You know, I can think of them. :)
IĈm not being sarcastic though, that would be wasting forum space and I would not want to do that.
But please, I'm just asking a question, it's no big deal just forum talking, some times people think of these things and ask the same question them selves.
If it is a stupid question then so be it, we are just friends talking here, that's all. Who knows, it or some other question my not be stupid, I won't really know till the questions are asked.

I think that's the point.

It's not paranoia, it's a simple cost-benefit scenario. The alliances would lose a lot (security, increased competition for everything, fewer targets) and gain nothing. They close thier borders because it is the path of least danger to thier profits.

CFS did no such thing. If CFS actually had access to that refining tax, it might have actually been able to finance it's military. Instead, they saw all that ISK slip out the back door into Fountain. That's why it died. (Well, that's one of the reasons. Incompotent, and in some cases, corrupt leadership was another)

In the case of Stain, I'd have to agree. The region of 8634576234687 NPC stations...I wouldn't want to have to try and defend Stain. :D
