After having the skills to do so for about a month, I recently finally jumped into a wolf, and I'm loving it.
Now I know that the wolf is meant to deal out damage and kill things before they can even think about warping away, but that's not what I'm going to be doing. I'm looking for a good setup which can kill things and keep them from running away. Also, most of my pirating will take place in or around a 0.4 complex, so I'll only really be engaging BC and below.
Due to lack of better equipment (and my itchy feet) I threw things on to it and went out with a setup which (I think) looked like this.
3 x 200mm Prototypes 1 x 200mm Gallium (I can use T2 but I couldn't find any close enough for my liking) Malkuth Standard with them EM Light missiles (I forget name)
Fleeting Webber Scrambler
Small I-b polarized Repairer (again, I can use T2 but didn't have access at the time) 200mm Rolled Tungsten Plates 15.36% across the board passive hardener Cap Relay
Like I said, I just kinda threw things on and went out in it. I managed to get me a Prophecy + pod, and a breacher, but then I got blobbed. So I think it did alright given the rag-tag nature of it all.
Is there anyone else who has or does use the wolf as a solo pirate ship? The tank holds up nice enough, so the webber + scrambler don't gimp it that much. I hope to replace the 15.36 hardener with a 32.5% explosive one, and obviously get the T2 variants of the modules stated.
I was wondering what people would think about swapping the webber for a AB? I would never ever ever consider MWD, but with the AC's tracking, do you think I could sacrifice the webber for some more speed?
Opinions? Good, bad, wtfareyoodoing???!!1? etc. Thanks.

or maybe the 92.5% EM, 80% thermal resisitances (and then a nano plate) on the Wolf coupled with it's small sig and it being at point blank range helped.....perhaps.
I'd trade the web for an AB, just so I might stand a better chance of getting to scramble range before people run. Just my thoughts though. oh, and get a kinetic energized plate. much better

Thanks to R31D for the useful suggestions, yeah I am gonna swap the webber for a plate, and I'll have a looksie for the energized kinetic thingie.
And Sadist, much as I appreciate any form of response, if you're going to say how crap my fit is, could you at least provide some kind of alternative? And dust monkey maybe next time you could try and fire at least 1 missile before you die eh?

IMO there's no real reason to use 200mm autocannons over 150mm because they only do 5% more damage, have 120m longer optimal range yet the 150mm has 11.11% better tracking for half the grid (talking t2) and less cpu.
2 grid might not seem like much but when since you're talking an extra 2 grid for 4 guns it suddenly becomes 8 grid which is enough for a nos or a mwd over an ab. Might try looking into 150mm t2 autocannons for your main weaponry.
After that you could either go for a nos if you want to help maintain your tank or a rocket launcher (preferably t2 since they do ok damage once trained up). For mids it all depends on whether you want speed, whether you'll be solo'ing, whether you're planning to engage large ships more often... Some nice combos are mwd + 20km scrambler, ab + tracking disruptor if you're going in a gang.
If you go an ab over a mwd you should be able to fit a 400mm plate fairly easily although it might be a problem after they add mass to them. Definitely take at least one damage mod always on your af (since they're made for damage) and use a Small Armour Repairer II if you can fit it because they're much better than the rest.
What you think of those ideas Matt?

Some very interesting points there Ante, about the 150mms. With the better tracking I could definitely take out the webber for a AB. I'll be looking into it
And General, glad you enjoyed it, so did I hehe. And I was and am prepared to ransom people, and if you read my bio (ingame) you will see that. And brothers? Haha you never know...
Well I have this week off college, so I'm gonna be testing and looking into different setups. Bought some Domination Kinetic Plate thing on escrow so that'll go on there at some point
I'll post my revised setup when I can. Thanks for all the input.

You were the prophecy? I'm not saying t'was a crap fit, but surely a prophecy specifically designed to take out frigs, can take out a wolf... --------------- VIP member of the [23] Sadist - harsh to the idiots, kind to the smart |

Try this, I think it will fit for you. If not then train till it does =)
High - 4x150mm Autocannons/Named Rocket Launcher Medium - X5 Webber(Domination if you want to rock)/Faint Epsil WS Lows - 400mm nano, 2xGyroII's, Small Armor Rep II
High - 4x150mm/Small NoS Medium - x5 Webber/Faint Epsil WS Lows - 400mm Tund, 1xGyro II, 1xTracking Enhancer II, Small Armor Rep II
Use the Fain Epsi has less CPU than Fleeting. Don't forget to pick up maybe an -3 cpu implant to guns and the 3% bonus to small projectiles. I don't think the falloff implant is to much either so get that too or even the Tracking enhancer one for maybe increased hits. These setups are for mostly insta gate/to/gate. Nothing for the approuch.

Empty 5th highslot?
The difference between 150 2's and 125 2's is about 2 raw dps pr gun (not including reloading), at least with my skills, so it might be better to downgrade to 125 2's and have a rocket launcher in the 5th highslot.

Just so your under no misapprehension my Prophecy was in mining mode and wasnt likely to put up much of a fight. But also change your bio because its a lie you made no attempt to ransom me or even offer it even tho I was repping not shooting.

Just a quick question... whoever got podded mining in their prophecy.... were you in lowsec space, or in hisec space while at war??
cause if so, you knew the risk.

I use 4x280mm 2's 1x Arb Rocket 1x AB t2 1x Named scram Mpac Tech2 Kin arm hard. Small Arm rep 2 think ive a cap power relay in the other, but not sure till I check.
I head a wreaking over over 400, and with EMP most hits are enough to hurt thinges nice and fast.
