I have just reloaded EVE since the cold war patch, i played a while after exodus. The game crashes my computer hard and i have to power off completely and bring it back up. This seems to happen everytime i enter space from a space station, or i change from Window to Full screen or reverse. I never have this issue with any other games. Any ideas? I have a 6800 GT amd64 3200+ 1gb ram, windows XP sp2.
Like i said, i doubt its a hardware/heat/etc issue because i play other games all day with zero problems. I was able to play eve no problems b4 cold war.

Issue seems to be resolved. I updated to the 81.84 Nvidia beta drivers and i no longer experience the crash i did with the 78.x drivers.

Well nevermind. Upgrading to betas did seem to slow down the rate at which the game crashed, but it is back to doing it. My computer just seems to shutdown into a standby mode at random times, ONLY when im in a station, entering a station or leaving a station. Never happens when i am out in space. Any clues?
It is definitely not heat as i have been monitoring my GPU/CPU/System temps and all are well within norms. I have no overclocked components. my PSU is not overloaded. I can play Guild Wars for hours nonstop w/o a problem. So im pretty much ruling out a component issue. HOping someone else out there has experienced this. I did not have this problem pre-Cold War.

I would suggest that you buy a cooler for the gfx card e.g. Arctic cooler. Both my computers with 6800GT cards did reboot when playing EVE and the temperature was well within specs. I tried everything from reinstalling to driver updates and still rebooting. Then i bought the gfx coolers and got the temp down from 80C (spec says throttle down at 127C) to 55C and voila the rebooting stopped. now i can play Eve without rebooting.
I have also noticed that different drivers get different temp readouts. So buy the cooler it wont hurt your system, and the arctic cooler is good because it leads the heat out of the computer instead of driving it around inside it.
