the record gets broken almost every weekend by a small amount IMO people should just stop making these threads until it reaches the 17k barrier or something. ------------------- http://www.eve-files.com/media/signatures/pantsig.jpg Maximum signature size exceeded. So you think it's not worth to mention a new 100m world record until someone runs it below 9 sec?
We are talking about world records, you know!

If it's consistently broken every week, yes I think that's excessive.

Prob is lag created by this amount of sim logons...
Was horrible when I last played in August, how is it now?
Thinking of core Empire systems ofc.

Core systems would be difficult to navigate through but outer areas still can be managed with little or no problems. If the heavy loads cause problems simply move your op to another system for that day.

Haha, 3000 Mbyte/second. Not bad
But generally speaking, devs are usually not correct to optimize only by hardware upgrading, it will never be enough in the long run. Now I know that CCP does other things as well, but I somehow doubt this little machine (which looks like my HiFi amplifier btw) will solve every problem.

Which is of course why they are optimising the software as well.

It won't solve every problem, but it will address a significant bottleneck in the current system. It is, after all, better to sort out the plank in your eye before addressing the splinter in your finger

It made the news??? I mean is it really suprising the record has been broken by a tiny bit yet again?
What would be newsworthy is when the servers break 20k, 25k and 50k some good milestones. Not yay we've reached 16.5k users a new record. Wooohoo we've reached 17k a new record. New record last night 17,031 users. Yay a new record 17.280 users... etc :P

If every weekend someone sets a record 0.1 secs lower then no its not worth throwing a party over it every weekend.
Well actually throwing a party is always good, but im sure you get the point... ------------------

***EDIT: 0/10 for reading comprehension, see this thread is on repeated posts rather than official news items. That'll teach me to try posting and working at the same time! Will leave the original post below to make the point that it's players getting excessively excited about this, not CCP.***
Well if you actually look back at the news items, the last one about player count was on 11th September for a count of 15209. So I think a new news item over a month later, reporting a growth of 1190 isn't excessively frequent.
You can do anything. But you can't do everything. |

16,399 is the high count for Sunday, as reported in the GM Shift Report. As for making major announcements of the concurrent user count, Oveur and I have mentioned previously that the next big announcement will be made at 20k users. As a few posters in this thread have stated, a big announcement with every broken record will start to sound like that, a broken record.

I recall a +16.000 players record being announced atleast once before, yet all i see now is the latest one and the 15.000 record.
I could be wrong i guess. ------------------

I agree that 20k should be the next big party point, but at the same time, a progress report would also be good. A quiet little news item once a month if there has been appreciable movement wouldn't be excessive.

I know it's been "annouced" repeatedly by players in these sort of forum threads, one of which might even have got a dev reply. I don't recall a previous official news item about it though.
I could be wrong as well though
