That's a decent set of attributes for a fighting character. Don't worry about starting with industry skill, this is needed if you ever want to make your own ammo or branch into mining barges. --------------------------------------------------------------------- "Who is the more foolish, the fool or the fool who follows him?" Your starting skills don't matter much. You can get a bit of a headstart by choosing the path that gives you frigate 4 spaceship command 3. But at most it's a 1-2 days headstart.

Nice starting attributes, and that's all that matters. Any skills you don't start with can be purchased.

I am also a noobie, I've been playing for 3 days now. There is one thing I will recommend to you, regardless of the career path you're choosing, and that is this -
LEARNING SKILLS. My new best friend! My learning is at 4, and I'm training up Analytical Mind and Instant Recall. The difference you will see in skill training times is quite astounding. 40 mins of training (AM 1 and IR 1) has reduced my Learning 5 train time by 8 hours, and it is no problem at at all to boost those to 3 or 4. I'm going to take it further, but that's just me.
Good luck! I'm loving this game :D

Thank you for the input, greatly appreciated. I have 1 more question. In space, can you fly manually, without restrictions? Or is it, click and go, already pre-determined locations?

You can set a manual course by double clicking in space. However, I find the irritatingly helpful interface often decides I actually want to select a station 50AU away who's icon is half a screen away --------------------------------------------------------------------- "Who is the more foolish, the fool or the fool who follows him?" Bossco, that's a great set of starting attributes. And as Kai says...take some time to train the learning skills, too!

Train up your learning skills to as high as you can.
For fighting, you need to know Spaceship Control skills for the ships you are interested in, frigate probably atm. Also Navigation skills to enable the use of things like afterburners (ab) and micro-warpdrives (mwd), and to increase things like accelleration and maneuverability. Another important set of skills for fighters are the Gunnery skills. Train these up as they will give you faster firing, more hits, more damage, better target tracking etc. If you want to use fighting drones (scouts), train up the basic drone skills. Later, there are secondary sets of skills to train up, such as Mechanics, Elecronics and Engineering. These allow you to use other modules, and do things like increase your armour, structure and shield hit points, how much CPU things use, how much power you have available etc.
It may seem like a lot, but you should be able to get to lvl 3 or 4 pretty quickly for most skills.
Have fun. Regards |

Electronics and Engineering might be considered early on too, as they boost your CPU and Powergrid a bit. And you are then able to fit a little better weapons and/or protection on your ship.
All in all, learning skills as high as possible as fast as possible, if you gonna stay in game for long. Mix them with whatever is necessary to fit modules you want.
