Hi guys;
You have modified the Naglfar.
So please pay our useless minmatar skills back : Citadel Cruise Missiles and Citadel Torpedoes ( Skill Points and Iskes ! )
I won't fly in a Phoenix or in a Leviathan. I don't need these skills anymore.
You have modified the ship, so plz PAY BACK !!!!!!!!!!!! |

haha
how about you just ask that they wont chance the nag to the silly all out turret thing and instead of that they should just boost the current nags bonuses to match the other ships.
It's much more fun with missiles and stuff. |

Oh... Wait, that doesn't make sense.
I'm usually never for the whole "SP refund" thing that a lot of people cry out on, but I kinda agree with this one here. The people who trained into using Citadels just for their Naglfar, which now no longer needs them, is kind of a slap in the face to them even if it's good to the ship they fly. Save the drones! |

A 'silly turret thing' that literally every EFT wizard and theorycrafter is jizzing themselves over? One that can actually apply all of it's damage to something smaller than a POS, instead of one that does nothing but grind structures?
I don't care what you think, you're clearly an idiot. I love my new naglfar. |

why the f did you invest skillpoints into the Citadel Torps and Cruises if they weren't even bonused? I always saw the Nag as a lowish dps, all damagetypes platform that could either bring 2 large smarties and put some pressure onto Bombers, or bring 2 NOS or whatever do leech cap during siege.
Also: The Geddon was changed from a Laserboat to a Droneboat, please refund all my energy weapon skills as I will never, ever, ever use them again. |

CCP never reimburse skills under these circumstances. All ships and modules are "subject to change".
The only time skills have been reimbursed has been when the relevent module or effect has been simply removed from the game (eg: learning skills)
You're not going to get your skillpoints back.
Deal with it.

I usually agree but with this change I'm a bit on the fence, for someone who doesn't also have caldari dreads trained it is a very close approximate to if they'd removed them from the game. I think CCP needs to be very careful in a game thats all about playing the long game not too much disadvantaging people who take that to heart, as otherwise they become less invested in the game when they become wary of making long term plans and potentially lose interest in the game. |

Nope. XL missiles are still in the game, they still do the same thing (in fact they're getting a buff), you're not getting your skillpoints back.

You write as if you're tough for stating the way things are. You're just schadenfreuden. That said CCP has to draw the line over refunding skillpoints or it would be constantly doing it simply because of the morphing nature of EVE. |

If you read the rest of it you'd notice I don't have any SP in citadel missiles on any character.
I'd agree if it was like the example further up i.e. armageddon with lasers as theres many other ships that the skills required to fly an armageddon apply to that can also use lasers.
A racial capital tho is a long way down a development branch of its own, the path to a nag is relatively removed from the path to a phoenix - to remove something that applies to the extreme end of one branch and is only really applicable to the extreme end of a totally different branch of training isn't that far removed from taking that item away from the game - certainly a very different context to examples like the armageddon. |

Theres a difference here - astrometrics V gives you an extra probe regardless if you use a DSP or not, its still applicable for other stuff you will do while scanning and doesn't require extensive retraining into another area of the game to once again make use of that skill. |

I can guarantee you I do not need lvl5 anymore. You find me one sig you cannot scan down with lvl4 and a bonused ship. Sole purpose for training this skill was to use the DSP.

CCP has drawn "the line" pretty clearly. Change isn't bad, but it isn't always good. Sometimes, the oldest and most simple of things can be the most elegant and effective. |

You dont like what CCP is doing vote with your wallet. It is a company and therefore it operates under certain rules that brings it profit. The faster can someone speed their training and reach his personal objective thats bad for business. Since the person reached his personal endgame usualy. If they would return sp people would just invest them to somewehre else what they would like to fly and therefore immidiately achieve the objective. When someone reaches his personal endgame either he stops playing or limits his playtime for another things. So therfore its not in ccp interests to do that. If you want some game change ask yourself how much could game company loose on that change and there will be your answer if the particular change will happen or not. |

CCP are making racial cross training in the Cap range easier. CCP have Buffed the Phoenix a bit. CCP have indicated they are actively working on a more complete overhaul of all dreads and this is simply a short term measure they can take while they work on a longer term fix.
Even ignoring CCP's standard skill policy, all three of these are very good reasons not to refund Capital missile skills. |

From another perspective and using the perfectly valid concept you mentioned that CCP gets the most business from a player while working towards an endgame - they need to consider very carefully changes to the game that affect how invested players are in working towards an endgame and changes that ostensibly waste someones efforts for reasons outside of emergent gameplay tends to turn players away from investing too much into long term plans.
You can't take it in a given with a game that has the nature of Eve that someone who has fully trained up the Nag will have any interest in training up the Phoenix - while theres a good proportion of flavor of the month players theres also a good proportion of players who are as invested in enjoyment for specific ships as they are in the rewards of using them. I spent a lot of time and effort into training up for a thanatos first (and archon second) even tho my main interest in carriers is triage and the archon is by far the better triage carrier because the thanatos captures my imagination and the archon just leaves me cold.
The end result is a reasonable proportion of players are going to be increasingly more wary of investing time in long term plans in Eve for fear that changes CCP makes will leave them disadvantaged this isn't good for the health of the game or CCP's wallet and my motiviation for posting in this thread - I don't care personally whether citadel missile SP specifically is reimbursed or not but the overall issue here especially with the changes (many of them very good changes) that are coming with odessey and further patches/expansions are going to have a much bigger impact on this than just some ships becoming a bit less useful than they used to be. I'm not even saying automatic skillpoint reimbursement is the solution here but that its something that should be looked at again rather than blindly applying some rigid legacy policy - that granted applies very well for the most part. My personal opinion is that applying it in a situation where a player has to extensively retrain to make use of a skill they formerly could use is a failing its not really any different than changing the skill requirements of ships and then telling players its tough if you can't fly that ship any more without training new skills. |

You no longer need BS V, only BS IV. So cross training to the Pheonix would take a very short time (a week for Dread IV).
