If it's not within CCP's network, there is very little they can do about it.
You ARE submitting this as bug reports, right? To help CCP track down and prove the problem...
You just linked a **** site, by the way.
I don't see what this has to do with 'Amateur Facials UK'

And that's exactly WHY it hasn't been fixed. I'm on NTL and I have no issues, but someone two streets away IS.

As the proxy is working it seesm to be IP related so you were probably lucky enough to get another IP that was unaffected.

Alright, so check this out.. Been playing since release. NEVER had a routing problem, save for a few times my ISP went down, Can count the number of times my computer has crashed while playing EVE on one hand. I work for an ISP here in the states, I see large scale routing problems on a daily basis in our own network, and have a pretty good idea what I'm doing when it comes to inter-network routing as well.. So let's start at the beginning.
On the right we have 2 Traceroutes, from my home here in Kansas, in the States, to the eve servers. Made sure routing was the same, we notice the last three hops, all with the 157.157.xxx.xxx addresses. OK, I'll bite.. let's say these are the final hops to the london server, TBFH I don't know nor care, they're just the last hops. Soo.. let's assume everything up to this point is working OK, as it seems to be a common determining factor in everyone, that we're all playing EVE and these are three common hops.
On the left we have each IP address along the three final hops. Obviously they're not setup to discard pings, so we'll take advantage of that. Using the typical ping -f -t -l 1452 XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX command that every basic ISP tech is taught on day one, we crank up the packet size to 1452 to simulate MTU packet transmission, that most larger traffic is going to be sent in.
Top Left Window is ping to xxx.62.26 Middle Left Window is ping to xxx.139.252 Bottom Left Window in ping to xxx.139.10
This is a screenshot from those windows, all running concurrently. Anyone else see what I see?
Tell me the login servers are set to an inbound MTU size lower than 1452 and I'll shut up. If they should be able to handle packet size of 1452 or greater, then we've got a rather serious issue here. I'm not quite ready to Call Total Bull-**** on the "external network" problems everyone seems to think it is. But something quite clearly with the turn-around on ping from your last hop is causing some issues. If it's something with the hardware upgrades, I'd be quite curious to actually understand why it's affecting some people and not other. If not, then just fess up already. It don't take a college degree to figure out that SOMETHING definetly ain't right with the EVE Servers.

Well cant say i fully understand any of this, the techincal aspect of it, but ill have to agree with you on the point that something is very very very wrong.
Fact nr.1 is that this problem is not affecting everyone, only select group seems to be having this problem and arent we all thrilled about that, i log in seem the game run smoothly for some whilst i ctd every minute if not more
Fact nr.2 CCP claims this is network failure of some kind, but the internet is working perfectly and that alone seems to suggest that it is in fact a CCP problem(Correct me if im wrong here pls!)
What remains here is, if that is infact possible to determine, what those that are getting this great gaming experience do have in common

Edited by: TorquePSA on 19/10/2005 06:36:49 Well, I ran though a proxy and cleared everything up. CCP could already have this pinned down, but maybe a little hotfix optional patch that just routes you though a confirmed good proxy that could handle the load might be a good thing to crank out until the problem is resolved. I know it's super-obvious but when you are thinking really hard sometimes you miss the simpler things.

Well, wouldn't forcing your MTU to something smaller than 1452 fix the problem then? Suppose you set a 512 byte MTU?

Oddly though 1 account in Lonetrek worked fine, 2nd account in FD-MLJ CTD's. I moved a char from the CTDing account up to Lonetrek and it stopped CTDing, moved it back towards Placid and it began again...
