well that is all well and good but I need to be able to log in more than 30secs to take full advantage of said servers :0

Volos, many players get CTDs atm - and many dont
There definatly is a problem, but it looks like its one with an ISP and not anything in EVE. If you go through the big Ctd thread you will find this info there.

Wrong.
Many people have reported main characters CTD'ing but alts are smooth sailing. That definately sounds like an internal EVE problem to me. ____________________________________________ 87.3% of all statistics are made up on the spot

heheh it is a bit ironic..
Kinda like wanting to get to the car dealer to pick up your new ferari, but you cant get there because your 1983 ford escort just broke down..
Still.. maybe next time post something like that carefully in a way that cant be constrewed as having a go at ccp. Personally my connection is working fine and I havent ctd'd in eve for about 3 months.
Its apparently a comms problem, most likely with an isp. Not ccp's fault that you cant enjoy the benefits of thier obsession with shiny new toys

Scrammer, if you can explain to me please how it can be a problem with EVE if the packet loss/slow connects happen at an ISP? Look at the traceroutes people are sending in, thats what the data on them shows.

**VOLOS runs and hides as his topic has been read the wrong way**
intention was:
I find it funny that i can't benifit from the new servers, because of the problems who's/what area they belong to i don't care i just wanna play. IF CCP can help a 3rd party sort it out great, if it is to do with Mr. Internet pulling the plug and CCP can't do anyhting about it fine.......but all said and down a feedback to the isse would be nice

The problem seems in most cases to be the IP address 157.157.62.26 this IP address is owned by Iceland Telecom so this is either a router or switch owned by them or a server co-located with them by CCP. there does seem to be a lack of urgency and information on this issue from CCP but having lived with this for 3 days now it seems to be either CCP or Iceland Telecom and close enough to home for them to have sorted much quicker.
CCP has a problem and they either need to fix it themselfs or jump on Iceland Telecom to sort it out because one way or another they are paying for a service from Iceland Telecom and 3 days to sort a routing issue is not good enough.

My connection is as clean as ever, and my tracert shows it. It's clean all the way to TQ.
Look. I know it's easy to think what you think, but you are mistaken nonetheless. The problem is not at ISP's, really.
I had the same exact symptoms some time ago, and I petitioned it. I got a GM response - which I am not quoting - saying that they changed something on the way the server connected to the internet. Even then there was a lot of people that didn't have the problem and even then it was cured at CCP's end.
And then we have the loadbalancer update and the problem starting now. It's as easy to think that it's the loadbalancer as it is to think it is ISP, but I am not falling for that. I am pretty sure the loadbalancer has been checked and doublechecked already.
It's not that simple as "it's all of you's ISP's".

It was clean when you ran the tracert, but that doesn't mean it's clean all the time. Whatever is going on it's obviously an intermittent problem - if it was constant, then you wouldn't be able to log in to start with. You really need to run a constantly looping tracert, to try and catch when it goes strange. You're looking for something like this tracert, the top one happening most of the time, with the occasional one similar to the bottom one.
You can do anything. But you can't do everything. |

Not at all Scrammer
If the traceroutes show packet loss/slow connect at an ISP, in this case it seems to be IP address 157.157.62.26, then thats were the problem most likely is. And as Matthew mentioned if a traceroute shows clear once, that doesnt mean its always clear. Quite simply I dont know for sure where the problem is (otherwise i d call CCP and tell em) but all logic points to something going wrong at IP address 157.157.62.26

How can it be an ISP problem when I can play Battlefield 2 with awesome ping and download at 600kbps and can't stay logged into eve for more then 30 seconds since Monday? If it is an ISP problem, it's on the CCP side and they need to address it. If this goes on another day, i'm asking for a credit for the 4 days so far that I wasn't able to play.

You're ignoring the other evidence players have been posting about, such as:
- main characters being affected, but alternate characters unaffected - certain systems crashing players. Multiple tests proved this for some players but not all - certain game functions that work for some people but for others it immediately sends them straight to desktop
These are all internal CCP issues. These have nothing to do with some 3rd party ISP that everyone seems to keep getting stuck on.

Puh, ok - Not your ISP, the IP address(s) the problem seems to be at belong to Iceland telecom as far as I know. So if you play anything or do anything not going through this ISPs IP then you would probably be fine.
I will stop posting in this thread though, the main discussion is going on in the "CTD`s today" thread.
Over n out...

Wrong.
Many people have reported main characters CTD'ing but alts are smooth sailing. That definately sounds like an internal EVE problem to me.
From a server side issue possibility, ALT or MAIN characters should have zero impact on connection stability. The terms ALT/MAIN are terms based on frequency of use, the game can not distinguish between them.

The Devs are aware of the sever problems and are working towards a solution. Posting a new thread won't make the solution appear any quicker.
Please continue in this thread.

i have been here for a long time and i have always backed ccp and this game from the start. that said in most of my time playing my connectiong has been great. i use brighthouse based in the us. it cable modum and rock solid from day one. but in the last 4 days i just cant stay connected. its all well and good that some have found changing ip addresses has helped. but i own my own bizz and work 80 hours a week min. i just dont have time to test this and that and spend hours i dont have. i have two account and was about to get a third. if you see 10 or 15 post a day on this thier must be hundreds that call support for awnsers so this is a much more wide spread problum. i love this game and back ccp all the way but this problum needs to be job one for thier fix teams. good luck with this guys
