I encounter many words that I don't know what they mean, like inertia multiplyer. Is there a dictonary that explains how all things like inertia, scanning, trainingtime multiplyer, ships wieght etc affect the ship and how the game handles them? For example I see that a hull upgrade modifies inertia multiplyer by -10% but from what? There is no inertia attribute in the ships info! |

Aye, some things are not shown.
Inertia multiplier * ship mass = number that determines how agile your ship is. Ie, how fast you accellerate up to 75% speed required to warp for example.
Further more, many of the descriptions in "show info" on modules are wrong. In some cases it says "-" where it should be "+" etc. The items works just as intended though.
Your best choice is to keep asking questions in the ingame channels... ppl usually reply fast, and often with a correct answer

Inertia is the force that resists you when you try to make a change in direction. A -10% multiplier reduces the inertia by 10% which means yous ship will turn (e.g. to align for warp) more quickly.
From memory, your ships inertia will depend on it's mass and velocity in the direction it is currently travelling. (I could be wrong about this, A-level Physics was a loooong time ago. )

Thank u for clearing that up! :) I think a search function in the forums would be good while many of my questions have probably been asked before. I could still use som more info on the inertia, I like numbers u know. Like how the ships mass affects the agility and perhaps how propulsion strength comes in play, I suppose it has to do with acceleration. Something like this would be nice: (max speed * propulsion strength) / mass
aja thanx again for answering!

Argh, don't say such things
Inertia is not a force. /pedantry off
Sorry, some things just rankle

Such function is coming soonÖ, I hear
What I'd like to see is an informative guide on this and a few other subjects (implemented in the actual website preferably), though.

Edited by: Silver Night on 19/10/2005 23:02:46 I've had trouble figuring out how physics apply in eve because some things work as tehy should,a nd a lot of things don't :/. Inertia is resistance to change in motion though (or resistance to moving when stopped, but of course "Stopped" is relative).
