If my poker site connection works, then the internet is ok.... If my telephone works because it is connected to my cable modem, then guess what, my internet works...
Unforunately, the internet is not that simple. If your poker site works, it means the bit of the internet between you and the poker site is fine. That does not mean that the bit of the internet between you and the eve server is fine. Your internet connection and CCP's internet connection can both be working fine, but if the bit of the internet in between is broken, then you won't be able to talk to each other.
What you are basically saying is that 5th Avenue should be clear of traffic queues because you just drove down 12th Street without a problem. Hopefully the flaw in that argument is obvious enough.
Originally by: Rob Blob Asinine denials like "The customer support team is currently getting many reports of connection problems, timeouts or other internet related issues. While we would like to be able to help all of you out, this problem is sadly beyond our control." does not cut any ice with me, as I have tried both World of Warcraft and City of Heroes this evening WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS.
The WoW and CoH servers are connected to different parts of the internet. What you are saying is that because you can drive down roads A and B easily, that there can't possibly be any problem on road C, which goes somewhere else entirely.
While it's designed to appear as such when it's working properly, the internet is not some amorphous blob that you just pump stuff into and it magically appears at it's destiation - packets have to navigate their way through a whole network of links and routers, just as when driving you have to navigate roads and junctions. If an accident closes a road, then you can still get to most places, but you're going to have difficulty in the area around that particular road. That road is not owned or controlled by CCP, CCP cannot come in and fix it themselves. The best they can do is to badger the people that do own and control the road to get it cleared, and trying to get their customers to divert down a different road (both of which CCP have been doing).
You can do anything. But you can't do everything. |
