Persons (CCP) approached JUSTK shortly before the Gallente Militia took full control of the warzone several months ago and broached the idea of us helping address some of the 'false self' issues members of the opposing militia had been showing at the time.
According to D.W. Winnicott (1), an influential pediatrician and psychoanalyst in the field of object relations theory, individuals that project a 'false self' have a deep seeded sense of being empty, dead, or even phoney. While not entirely mirroring Kohut's narcissistic disorder theory, Winnicott's 'false self' is more in line with Masterson's thesis of conflict between a person's two selves: his/her true self and a false self he/she constructs to cope with feelings of inadequacy, suffering, or trauma.
Even though we are engaged in conflict with opposing militia for the Federation, we arenGÇÖt without
concern,
compassion, and
patience. An intervention plan with both a macro and micro element was decided upon to affect the aforementioned GÇÿselfGÇÖ issues.
On the macro front, Federation Militia members would feint weariness and reduce their push for warzone control in order to prevent a worsening of the opposing militiaGÇÖs self issues. Next, it was decided that communications in conflict systems between JUSTK pilots and opposing militia members would be worded and/or styled in a way to bolster confidence, promote courage, and work to peak our foes interest in fighting for something.
At this point, our humanitarian intervention has had mixed results. In battles for system control, we have seen a lessoning of GÇÿfalse selfGÇÖ issues for example in the battle for Enaluri and Innia, where Caldari Militia fought with valor knowing that chances were slim. However, in recent engagements in Agoze and Loes, adversaries who we had initially thought were starting to show signs of a true self soon relapsed into a false self state. Finally, the comments from IbanezLaney show that often the best intentions and actions can be misinterpreted.
As to the OPGÇÖs question on which faction to join, stay true to yourself and donGÇÖt fall prey to the tyranny of denial.
