Yeah the ship balance is borked atm with the gap really being caused by:
*Battleships not being able to kill cruisers effectively
*Cruisers not being able to kill frigates effectively
smaller elite ships just omgwtfbbq'ing anything larger than themselves.
moral of the story: if you have a big ship, never ever travel without someone else in a smaller ship.
...if you fly a cruiser, (except for you know what) your just screwed anyway you look at it
backup array's and painters need some love BUT, CCP is going to introduce a mod to make ship signature SMALLER
oh the humanity!

... err, what..? o.O;
Yeah, I guess what i really meant was that if you have a BS fitted out to kill other BS's, cruisers can be a real problem. Not sure if this is a good thing or not...

This is utrue and you know it. That a small ship can kill a larger ship only means the larger ship was unprepared for combat or made a prolonged and serious misstake.
It's not untrue and you know it.
So you're saying that if I'm in a BS and fitted to kill other BS's that I've made a serious mistake if I get taken down by a couple of elite frigs? or maybe a HAC?
Because that is almost they way things are setup now, don't you think? I just think that "perhaps" the ship classes are a bit too stratified atm in terms of being able to destroy things smaller in the food chain.
(No, I don't think BS's should be able to indiscrimately kill frigs unless they are fitted for it.

Originally by: Retrax The new-found srengths of many ships has pumped life back into this game. No longer are battleships the 'best ships... period'; now anyone can learn to fly the ship classes of their liking and be able to do some good.
And I like the fact that a fleet of frigates is "far too powerful" for a BS. It shouldn't be any different IMO.
Yeah, I just think it is borked that ships one class above frigates have a hard time taking them out. I think cruisers should be able to kill frigates and elite frigates and cruisers (right now anyway) are the red headed step children of Eve.

I always have a blast reading your posts, i always wonder if we are playing a different game or if you are just pretending to be totally clueless :/ Cruisers are fine against frigs, and even if some cruisers guns and cruiser-sized missiles are not, frig guns/drones and mediums nos completely slaughter frigates... Whatever.
Sincerly Yours, The Naughty Boy.
Lol, it's probably a combo of things and the fact that I'm Caldari and it skews my view of things a bit I am realizing. I also fit the biggest guns and missiles possible. But the fact is that tech 2 frigates or inty's own cruisers. And the best thing to kill a frigate is another frigate if you have your cruiser fitted to kill bigger things and i always do. Maybe your right though and i'm just crappy at fitting my ships!

Well we can debate this ad nauseum and get no where, but something has changed to the point where ppl don't really want to fly battleships as much anymore and wallets and the market don't lie.
People buy the things they need or have confidence in and right now, battleships are at a 12 month low in their market price history (which is the furthest it goes back).
So something has changed to the point where ppl aren't buying these things even though they are dirt cheap, and I think the reason is because they're role has become too limited and they get blown to bits too easily by smaller, cheaper ships and ppl just don't want to be bothered with them.
The HAC has replaced the role of the BS because it has a serious tank, is more versatile, so their prices have skyrocketed.
Money never lies, and right now, all the money is betting on anything but tech 1 battleships.

Yeah, that's always a possibility i imagine. You can now buy BS's at cost, which means if you think its a fad, you could buy a bunch of BS's and avoid the impact of not having perfect manufacturing skills and sell them all at a later date and make some serious cash.
On the missile thing, we all remember when an arbalest siege launcher was going for 60 million easy. Well, they're about 14 million now and that is not a fad.
