However, the one thing everyone fails to realize when it comes to viruses, they are not microsoft centric. The reason you see so much mention of them on microsoft machines is because that is what 95% of all users have on their system. If that number were reversed and your unix based system was the 95 percentile you would see just as many viruses on that platform.
Frankly it doesn't matter one way or the other...Eve only runs on windows so thats what we all run.

Quote: directx is nowadays the best graphics API on the market, at least when it comes to games, and even though openGL certainly still is a good alternative it's falling short.
While the early versions of directX were terrible, DirectX itself is perhaps one of the best things to happen to the windows operating system. Without DirectX allowing expansion, diversification and competition in the hardware market for PCs while allowing most games creators to take advantage of a unified interface to hardware, I seriously doubt that we would be seeing graphics cards or sound cards as powerful as they are today and as cheap. Err... I think I¦ll stick to simply pressing the reset button
I think all this Linux-this Microsoft-that talk is pure bullsh***. Yes... Microsoft systems may not be the fastest and most reliable things in the world... but after all there have to be some pretty damn good reasons when so many machines run Windows instead of Linux or other stuff.
Personally I¦ve found Linux extremely tedious, boring and it simply takes to long to get into it for a "normal" user like I am. Additionally I love fancy GUIs and I don¦t give a damn if they¦re a waste of resources , they look cool and make using a machine much more comfortable for me. See I¦m one of those who don¦t bother searching through systemfiles and the likes to fix their systems cause it just takes too long and isn¦t really worth it IMO. If I find something not working properly I simply reinstall windows or restore one of my backups. At least for a more "home-user" like me (although I actually do a lot of work on this PC, mainly programming websites of all sorts) backups are they key.
Windows has a lot of problems, but after all it¦s a pretty damn good OS IMO because it can do a whole lot of cool things.
On the other hand many people love Linux and whatever *nix there may be. It can also do a lot of cool stuff and from what I know it¦s the choice of the real freaks (the guys they call "nerds" where I come from ).
It¦s basically the same as with every other thing in the world. There are always many choices and NONE of them can be the only and the best solution. Nothing is perfect, Windows isn¦t perfect, Linux isn¦t perfect, but both of them are capable of doing very cool stuff in the right environment. Whether Micsosoft servers are the best choice for EvE... I guess CCP had some good reasons for their choice and I don¦t think that anyone in here knows enough about EvE¦s structure so he/she could make a reasonable statement why Linux is better or why Microsoft is the right thing.

Apple has one of the most ugly GUIs I¦ve ever seen and additionally:
Back in the days when I studied Audio-Engineering we had to work on Apple-machines and these damn things crashed every two minutes... it was rediculous. Eversince then I run whenever I hear the word Apple or Mac

Hmmm... let's see what does my Vexor have onboard for navigation? Windows?... no, Linux?... no. Wait neither one of those are in there. So if we are talking about something OOC then if we flame someone it should be considered OOC too, right? Just a thought. :)
Anyway, computers are only as smart as the people running them. Sometimes it pays to be smarter than the thing you are working with.
