I am unsure if this has been proposed before. I checked the entire "commonly proposed ideas", google, and eve forums search, so here goes to something that must have been but i simply can't find.
It would be of incredible usefulness to be able to haul the entire jet cans with contents inside. Same thing would happen if you were to access a jet can without rights. Keep the system the same in that aspect. Heck even put a timer like ship swapping or docking. Allowing a ship to take the can and put it into its hold with time stamps and cans would drastically change mining ops. No longer have to worry about even splits. No need for logs or paper work. Most importantly no more socialist mining ops. Unless you like doing more work than someone else and seeing back less?
jet can: This cargo container is flimsily constructed and may not survive the rigors of space for more than an hour or so.
In a cargo hold the container could last indefinitely. No more rigors of space, even from a lore perspective it is easy to do. Imagine how much easier things would become if you could park a fenrir or use an orca out in belt. Grab jet cans already labeled with time and name. And at the end deposit them all to their respective owners. The one thing though is I suggest that moving a jetcan to a station cargo hold puts the timer back in effect. Or they simply pop depositing the items where ever they are placed. That way you don't have 1000's of jet cans littering your inventory.
Discuss the pros and cons please.

So how is it going to work, a jet-can is 27,500m3 so if you've got a mining op running, unless you're hauling in a freighter, there's going to be so much work for the hauler to do, can't fit 2 cans (55k m3) in any hauler apart from Orca or Charon.
There is a fairly easy option, and that's for the hauler to haul everything to station or wherever, and export loot history and distribute the loot accordingly.

the only ship that would really be viable for would be a freighter. and then why not just have if full of names cans you can drag the contents of the jet cans into?
don't really see how this would end up benefiting anyone. |
