hey,
I like to know that all my months in minmatar ships specializing is really going to pay off. Boosting defense modules, the 25% HP bonus and nerfing the dmg mods will make minmatar ships really usefull, give us a bone and at least put a mining yield bonus on the tempest or something so that I can at least use it for "ROTFLOL" now all the minmatar players (me and some1 else, as there are already so many players using these ships) can use their uber cap and slots distribution and tank for some seconds before the cap runs dry.
Thats the way to go CCP, all the "minmatards" (yeah cuss only retards will play with these ships after the new features) might just quit the game as you just nerfed the accually thing that they are good at (dmg dealing with full wrack of dmg mods). Oh and the stealth bomber locking time after decloak bonus is really smart, now we all can ride in a fleet of them and pwn the hell out of the uber amarr tankers.
All im asking is for you guys stop and think for a second about this, and what will happen to minmatar ships if you go with it.
And please give me a good reason not to just quit the game or at least change my skill training program to specialize in best tankers in game (amarr).
THANKS CCP.

insted of ranting, why dont you give us proper examples of how your being nerfed
for example the geddon is getting a kick in the balls cos it cant fit 8 dmg mods anymore, only 4
now how is mini getting screwed??????

afaik, sniper tempest isnt effected a lot, becasue before you would use 5 dmg mods and 1 rcu, now it will be 4 dmg mods, 1 rcu and 1 tracking mod,

Edited by: aNtis0cial on 30/10/2005 14:57:26 We are getting nerfed because they are boosting tanking over dmg dealing while at the same time the stacking nerf will make full wrack of dmg mods useless, and tempest inst just a snipper, its a good medium/close range dmg dealer but only with dmg mod setup and light shield tanking or tracking modules. And as minmatar just cant tank because of the huge cap problems we will just suck, and we could never be as good as amarr or any other race at tanking damage because of that and the slot distribution.
Thanks

I think this is what original poster trying to say: everyone knows dps on matari ships suck even with full rack of dmg mods. Now problem is that insane damage per volley woudlnt be nearly as effective after HP and resistances boost. Use of Tempest is already very limited to gate sniping and fleet battles where alpha-strike actually plays nice role. And we all know that Typhoon is simply poor man's Dominix. And now they are going to make it even worse.
Projectiles need another boost. Howies need more rof and AC's - better damage mod to keep them on par with other weapon types. ____ Petition: Nerf alts! |

Minmatar damage (with artillery) is dependent upon high 'alpha strike' (initial shot) damage, but lower damage over time. Damage mods will increase dot, but its going to be a significant amount less than say a gankageddon with 8x damage mods...even with 1400 t2 and 6x mods. By increasing hitpoints and tanking, it effectively renders the tempest and other artillery setups quite useless...as the alpha strike will hurt, but the damage by any decent tank setup will be soaked up with the low damage over time.
However, on a second point, I think autocannon setups will still be decent, given their higher damage over time vs lower alpha strike damage. As well, despite repeated claims to the contrary, there isn't a huge amount of difference between the Tempest and Typhoon's cap and the cap of other races (except amarr, who traditionally have lots of cap). The tempest has a 4250 cap, with a recharge of 923sec or so; this is the same as the raven and 250 less cap then a megathron. The only problem is that its slot layout and limits on CPU/grid mean its difficult to fit even 6x 1400s and a decent shield tank, or 6x 800s and a decent armor tank.
I've swapped to a dominix for level 4s rather than using a tempest; the tank seems much better (I can actually maintain 2x large armor reps for a decent amount of time...). I'm not sure if i'm going to stick to minmatar ships at the moment; at current, I'm going to wait and see how things turn out before i buy another tempest. ------------------------------------ Humbug ! |

the problem with the tempest is that for armor tanking you need to fill 5 slots with cap rechargers. to be able to run a decent tank you need these to be cap recharger II's... which are so bloody expensive it isn't even funny.
the 5 medslots the tempest has together with the fact it has limited CPU also means it can't really put up a nice shieldtank either... 6x PDU II + XL shieldbooster simply dries your CPU to the point you can barely or not even fit a decent rack of guns. this together with the already previous stated low DOT of the tempest will make it worse after the patch. it wont be entirely useless, but it wont come out better as lets say the apoc.
250's are definitely more versatile, but All the cool kids are using 280's. |

Could anyone perhaps provide linkage to what hes talking about? i looked at the drawign board, testing and all that and found nothing of what hes talking about. Im currenlty training up my skill for a Uber long range sniper + damage Tempest and I want to know whats going to be changed.
