Hey there New Eden. I've been hard at work brainstorming ideas on what little projects and tools I could develop to make our lives easier. Hot Spots is the first in a serries of tools I've brainstormed.
Hot Spots is a tool with two main purposes in its design. It is designed to help Fleet Commanders find fights, utilizing a formula I crunch the data that the EVE server dumps out to estimate locations where fleets and gatecamps are likely to be operating. While it doesn't guarantee finding a fight, it does simplify the process.
Additionally Hot Spots stores this data for the long term, using it over time to build a database which can reliably track and predict Hot Spots throughout New Eden. Currently I only have enough data to generate average kills per day over the last month, but the more this site is used, the better the data I have access too, and the more functionality I can add to this utility.
What makes this system better than other methods? Battle logs can be difficult to trudge through. Often you'll run through a lot of crap before you find anything of real value. Dotlan delays their data over a 3 hour period, making it useful, but not for the application i'm looking for. Hot Spots is updated as fast as the EVE map is, and therefore is a more accurate predictor of active aggression in EVE. You'll find some truely amazing gems of data that used to be burried in a pile of information.
you can find this tool at http://www.eve-commander.net/HotSpots/
I'm still working on the UI of this tool, as well as the back end functionality and usefullness, and look forward to feedback on how to improve it.

Very interesting. As a mainly solo pilot, I may not be the intended user, but I'll definitely be looking into this. Thanks for the tool! I don't always post on the forums, but when I do, I prefer posting with my main. |

Actually, you are the target audience. It can be used to avoid big gangs as well as find them =D. Also, when I solo, I tend to try to find populated systems where I can split people up, but that's just my style. |

cool idea and nice tool, I am excited about further developement.
you're not showing system sec statuses correctly. looks like you're showing only the first decimal of the truesec instead of rounding correctly. for example litiura's correct value is 0.5 (rounded from 0.489405) not 0.4 as shown, aldranette is 0.4 (rounded from 0.36751) not 0.3. beyond that you show just the value 0.0 for any 0.0 systems.

Finally got to test it out, and I must say it's very useful. Couple features you could try to implement is include the region that the system is in, to make it that much easier. I don't always post on the forums, but when I do, I prefer posting with my main. |
