I'm not tech savvy enough to understand the ins and outs of the DDOS attack, but you kept us up to date and got on with it. A live stream of CCP Guard dancing would have been a good addition to the twitter feed, but maybe that's asking too much. Good to see the community react in a 'No worries, get it sorted, not your fault' rather than 'F you all you're all bad blah blah' which I've not seen much of at all. CCP > Other major games companies (blizzard/activision ehehe).

Sorry to dissapoint, you get an ISD Gallifreyan instead of an ISD Ezwal.

You need to get CCP to update Facebook and Twitter as they both still say CCP are working on it. |

I heard the DDOS was caused by Goon overlord trying to login all his alts through the broken launcher.
We all know every Goon is part of the overmind.... *Tinfoil hat*
Also Excellent work CCP, consider patching in the new expansion while its down and get everything up and running all at once.

I foolishly started another thread and was locked but was kindly pointed here so I will repost the text here (not my normal SOP but I wanted to share it)
First I like to say kudos to CCP for taking the effort to keep us players informed, it was so unlike anything I've ever seen from a company Especially an online game.
Now onto my idea; as with most people I think a SP gift would be nice, however it would also be nice (and maybe a PR boon) to create something to vent our frustrations over the DDoS say something like an event with rogue DDoS drones or something and maybe a free commemorative avatar shirt with a witty saying such as "I hack relic sites not Neocoms" (maybe not that one, even I think it falls a little flat) or something similar.
Personally I would think spinning it into something we will remember and later laugh about (probably much later) would be nice.
Thanks again for keeping us updated and the hard work.

Massive thanks to CCP staff and everyone who has helped CCP - CCP stated they got external people to check things too!! Gratz to everyone - and thanks - to the external - you really helped a lot of people get the thing they love back up and running - nice job. To CCP - just keep being Awesome! A horrible thing to have happened to you and your beautiful product - ******** hackers - **** em - but you guys rock! EvE is technological excelence - no other MMO does it - you have so many industry firsts!
Like I said in the other post - You've garnered a lot of media coverage on all the games media sites - all the stuff I've seen has been really sympathetic - Really Pro CCP and the Community - A silver lining in this cloud maybe! But it has reinforced on the world via the gaming media how good EVE, CCP and the community is.
In the difficult times you shine - and it seems the worlds noticed!

Roger that. Those of us with experience in these matters know just how difficult it can be to defend against a determined attack. Nothing's 100% safe.
Props to CCP for handling this situation. Hopefully, they'll track down the perp or perps and force feed them lutefisk.

I missed the thing that happened because I was too busy being really drunk for the last few days (A litre of Vodka on Friday night & who knows what else for the rest of the weekend). Good job CCP on fixing the something that happened, can I have a thing?
The guy who was sitting next to me in the first nullsec round table who had obviously not had a shower since before boarding his flight to Iceland, you really stank. You know who you are. |
