Tell me more about your experience with elite pvp corps.
We been shooting PL and NC. all night and they're a lot better than you. We even borrowed Elo! |

Charles Case wrote:Hello TEST, As the next several weeks progress you will find yourselves with less and less space and more and more of what you call ~~fun~~. With this you will have the urge to come to CAOD and post about how TEST is ~~all about da fun~~ and how losing all your **** is nbd. I have created this thread for you (and the HUGE amount of tier 2 pubs you have managed to get together) to post about all the fun you're having. I will also be posting a link to the TEST alliance page in DOTLAN every week so we can see the "fun slope" as TEST becomes stronger and stronger with each system they lose. Have fun!
In other news Mittens' strategy of sitting on the sidelines letting other people weaken each other by conflict has bored 2400 Goons out of the game.

You might be in one of my fleets soon. Better train up Cormorants, son. |

In the long run TEST (mostly people in their 20s) beats Goons (internet early adopters) because most of you lot will die of old age first. |

We're using the word differently.
I'm using the word as defined by SAclopedia. http://forums.somethingawful.com/dictionary.php
You're using it to refer to the legion of J4Gs in your internet spaceships guild.

Eve Online is a really good spaceships game. If that's not your experience you might need to find a better alliance. |

I will probably die of fatness before i get to old age. I need to go on the DBRB diet pronto.
If SoK is to be believed then between the diet and the Admiral's outfit he's become something of a babe magnet. |

Tell me more about your experience with elite pvp corps. I think I summed it up in my original statement. While "elite" is the wrong term, I think a lot of people use it in place of "very good". The negative association comes from the vocal minority of players in those PvP corps that are smug, rude, trolling, or otherwise "mean" to those who aren't on their level. Meh. Play eve however you want, but maybe us terrible players wouldn't be so loud in proclaiming how awesome we are if you "elite pvp'ers" weren't so loud in telling everyone how terrible we are. TEST is a place to start for a lot of newbies who can't get accepted to any other corp due to low skillpoints/experience. And if the clueless newbie gets better and decides he hates TEST, he leaves, and joins PL or another corp with a more specialized role. I'm with TEST because I can do pretty much whatever I want and if I decide that killboard stats and sov are more important then freedom in a sandbox game, I'll move on. Also BoodaBooda is so :idgaf:, and Durrhurrdurr is an amazing FC. That is all.
I think the terminology isn't so much "elite" as "elitist". In my time at RvB I met some of the best subcap FCs and some of the best pilots I've ever encountered in the game. Yet anyone can join RvB and we've even had people who couldn't work a stargate. (One poor newbie asked in Local how to jump through and was told to line his ship up and pilot it through the hole in the middle - it took him half an hour of trying before someone took pity on him and explained you just right click the gate).
In TEST we have, we have had and we will always have an absolute flood of newbros. For some players newbros are really annoying. They jump through gates when you're wanting to keep your presence low profile, the flub tackles they should have been able to get, they all sit around doing nothing when they could be decloaking etc etc.
Some of us love newbros, finding their excitement and wonder keeps the game fresh. And it's very cool to see people progress.
There's also the metagame issue. If you have a high barrier to entry you can keep spies and awoxers out much better. A relatively open alliance like TEST will always have a vulnerability to this type of metagaming which puts us at a competitive disadvantage.
Historically open large alliances have done pretty well against tight elitist alliances, famously in the Goons v Bob stories from 5 years ago. |

Roderick Grey wrote: Also you didn't actually answer the question (which I didn't ask you) what is your personal experience with elite pvp corps/alliances have you been in one?
Of course! I'm in TEST. Best alliance, don't cha know?
My first nullsec experience was with the Northern Coalition. Looking back on it I was pretty hopeless and it wasn't a corp that held anyone's hand. I didn't understand about staging systems and I didn't get jump bridges. No one really talked to anyone else. So when a fleet went out I'd jump in my Drake or Typhoon in Branch and slowboat 40 jumps to the fight. That corp probably was elite pvp but I certainly wasn't.
Then I joined INK in NPC Null. Really good fleets but oh my word, the logistics is a shock when you're not used to it. I'd trained up perfect Caldari and missile skills and here I was in an alliance that would fly stealth bombers one night, ahacs the next. I couldn't really cope, I never had the right ships and no one imported.
Then I tried WI. They were pretty good except they had a quota of 6 kills a month and I got very busy IRL. A couple of bum fleets with no kills, it was about the 25th I hadn't met my quota yet and was stressing. Screw it, I went back to wormholes.
Then after listening to the Lost In Eve podcast I joined Li3 and had a lot of fun early on. Eventually :space politics: so I got told to GTFO and ended up back in high sec where I joined RvB.
A couple of months later I hooked up with SEDNA, an ex-Li3 corp which was then in Test Friends, now in Test.
I think the closest I've come to elite pvp is DingoGS's fleets. Dingo is a really really fine FC, probably one of the best in Eve. He's also perpetually sunny. I hope he sticks with us. |

I think in Test we're pretty aware that we don't know much about politics. One of our heroes told us recently space politics is for people who don't play Eve.
So something something shoot neuts something. I'm off to grab another ship! |

Huh? xXPizzaXz aren't fans of Test.
You know, you guys put too much store by spin. I mean I admire Mittens and Endie. Everyone in Eve does. But the double-dealing charming machiavellian gimmick is just played out.
I think the Goons are going to get a kicking. Maybe they'll take Test down with them but you're going down. Because no one outside the CFC wants to listen to Mittens congratulating himself for being a genius and the rest of you sucking up to him any more.
Now I'm not important or connected or in the know. So I could be wrong. But there's been pretty broad hints dropped from people who are in the know. I think it will be an interesting summer. And you'll know I'm right when Mittens sells TMC to Joystiq or someone. |

Has sov somehow become magically repaired now that TEST is alone? Lol so true. Not really, more like the tech got broken more.
No, tech was fixed. It was always poor design to have the bottleneck at a medium rarity moon goo. It looks like whoever at CCP designed Dominion simply didn't do the calculations that Akita T showed us in Market Discussion here. I doubt the designer even realised he was creating a tech bottleneck.

Weasel keeps making things up about TEST finances. Weasel words from a weasel man.
I have 2 in the system at the moment, submitted 15/6, approved for payment. I imagine I'll get the cash today.
But yup keep listening to the guy who just makes stuff up - he should write for TMC. |
