Is there a way to upgrade your scanners so that you can see the ore type of the Asteroids that show up on your scanners? Im sure this has been posted before but I couldnt find it. Thanks in advance.

not in that way, no.
You can use a Survey scanner to scan all roids within its range (five kilometres). You then get the results in a seperate pop-up window.
You'll need the Survey skill, though, which is an Electronics skill.

Thanks a ton, thats exactly what im looking for. I dont mind having to use an additional tool just want to be able to warp to a belt and scan for types of materials and not have to hvoer over each roid or click the info on the roid in the scanner list.

After a while you start recognising some of the different asteroids.
You can kind of use the normal scanner if you click on the little blue [i] button to open the Show Info window for that asteroid.

There are better Survey Scanners dropped by pirates (ie 6km range). And since the Scanner doesn't delete roids from the result list (ie if they're out of range or depleted) you can set your scanner for autorepeat and fly along the roids to survey the entire belt. |

and your in polaris?
no you do not need the survey skill. imo right now it is a waste of isk and skill points. all you need for any scanner i have come acrost normal and meta only require electronics lvl 1.
all the survey skill dose is boost the scan speed. you know for thoughs of us who cant wait 5 seconds for the survey window to come up.
