1) Gives me an excuse not to have a girlfriend right now.
2) Gives me an excuse not to associate with my family right now.
3) Gives me an excuse to subconsciously leave the collective human race as a braindead single cell amoeba-like lifeform soley for the purpose of devoting all remaining 2% of my usable brainpower to watch flashey lights and totally awesome explosions.

1) The people.
2) The constant developer/player feedback and changing. Yes some things don't turn out right, but in the end, most does.
3) The people. I <3 you all. Except for Admiral Iceblock, he's my nemesis.

1) i get to annoy 20 people by sitting in a hostile system in a cloaked ship (they can't find me  )

1) small chance I might see a forum troll in game and gank him with my buddies
2) to maintain sanity, I need to kill things daily in a non harmful socially acceptible way. NPC's suffice, but any pvp kill I take part in is infinitely better. Relieves job stress.
3) when not killing something and doing stuff like mining or scouting, the beautiful scenery is relaxing.
4) when you hit a level or kill stuff, it's been shown to increase endorphin levels in your brain. This is like doing drugs, only it doesn't kill brain cells, (arguably) destroy your life, or get you arrested. The dealer is almost always available 23x7 and you don't need to go to bad neighborhoods to get your fix, at least outside in real life.
5) gives me something to do when my spouse is gaming : P. We have different tastes in games. It's all good 8 ). I count myself lucky to have a spouse who can get into gaming too...

My top 3 reasons for playing EVE:
1. The players really do have an effect on the game.
2. The devs care about the game and the community and are constantly evolving the game over time.
3. It's the only MMO I've ever played where I've gotten a rush from PVP.
And here's a few more that are important but don't make the top 3.
4. They don't charge extra for expansions because we're already paying a monthly sub for the game already *cough* Sony, Blizzard *cough.
5. Everyone is on one server.
6. Puuurty Splosions 
7. I don't have to log on and play for hours just to gain a level/improve a skill. Sure you have to kill stuff to make money but there are several ways to go about it and it still really is optional.
There are more but that's enough for now.

1) No freaking Elves, dragons or goblins.
2) Sexy-arse spaceships.
3) No dumb level grind. (Making ISK isn't hard - barely a 'grind')

2.) the market, how selling/buying works, demand...etc.

- Behind my computer, not in the cold weather outside...
-Cool shippies and items, etc....
-Very deep on multiple parts, communication, politics, research...even Npcing is quite nice :)

1) It's complex, even after playing for a couple years I still don't understand how everything works. Partly because it changes, partly because the devs add new stuff. If I understood every facet of the game, I'd get bored quickly, but I have some deep seated need to figure things out, then move on to something else.
2) Politics and economics in game. CCP doesn't directly take control of the market, nor the politics. Players can decide what they want to do and how they want to do it for the most part. High sec empire is an exception to some of this, but if it weren't, there'd be no place for new players to learn the game in (relative) safety.
3) It changes, without me having to go to the store any buy an expansion. I played in beta, but quit and then came back. When I started this character, the only tech 2 ship was the interceptor, and the biggest baddest ship you could fly was a tier 2 battleship. The only thing you could plant down in space and call your own was an anchorable can. Look around now, we've got dozens of new ships since then, player owned structures, outposts, all sorts of stuff.
