I suggest the creation of a simple skill that allow anyone to fly any ship in EVE universe.
The purpose of this is simple transport those ships around...
The reason for existence: many player build big ships like cruisers, BCs, BSs, Indies and Transport ships and they simply cant transport it...either too big to put inside a hauler ship or else dont have the skills to fly it.
The limitation: you can fly but you CANT FIT the ship also you CANT put anything in the cargo hold. Soo it became useless for any use except transportation of the ship itself.
Skill levels would dictade the ship class you can fly REGARDLESS OF RACE LVL 1 - frigs and destroyers LVL 2 - Cruisers, assault frigs, cover ops frigs, Battle Cruiser, industrials, logistic, interceptors LVL 3 - Battleships, mining barges, heavy assault cruisers, transport LVL 4 - freight LVL 5 - dreadnoughts

That solution causes other problems and takes away from each race having their own ship.
Also Rename the threat "Car Transporter" skill and pose it differently x~~x~~x~~x~~x~~x~~x~~x~~x~~x~~x~~x~~x~~x~~x~~x Spoon Thumb - I can scoop ice cream with my thumbs! |

Maybe additionally while you can fly any ship type, you can not use any modules on the ship unless your properlly skilled for it. Freighters sounds like a good idea but you would be dead wrong, in addition to the months it would take to skill for you forget the acull cost of one ranging from 1.2+ billion. Ive been playing this game for 1.5 years now and still dont have half that much. But I do like to build thing every now and then.
The lvl 5 dreadnaught skill should be taken out becuase that can easly be used for other thongs like skillen "ship transporter" skill to 5 then move dreads into stratgic posstions for alliences and such to attack poses and what not. Id say for now to limit it to lvl 4 can fly all BS class ships and smaller and If you do skill it to lvl 5 it would not have any effect till devs/ccp find it worthy of something.

new craft type called TUG might be a solution.. It would be pig slow and have little or no defences but would get the packaged ships to where they needed to be. When out in space Other TUGS (of the same corp and ganged to each other with gang boss driving all tugs) could attach to speed up the trasportation.
just an idea

Although a skill like this would make play easier, I agree that it does kind of ruin the RPG aspect. Transporting packaged ships is probably still the best option all around. Start saving your spare change for that Freighter, dude!

i don't think eve should start to become more simplified, i remeber back when i played in 2003 when eve was a very different game, tedious missions, limited pvp. small ammounts of ships, now in 2005 there is a lot more on and it is a hell lot more complex. i personally think this should keep going, working into the game to make it more immersive, not simplifieing it to save ship salesmen time. try setting up a local ship market make the cheapest ships in the ragion all in one station and you won't have to transport them. use your brain. Courier escrow - its not a skill - costs limited to do - it works. TotensBurntCorpse Likes EVE, Starfleet Command Series, Earth & Beyond, Anything Battlefield, MOHAA, Call of Duty.

Salvagers in the battlefield towing in wrecks or abandoned ships could use such a skill but since there are no wrecks to be towed or few abandoned ships to pilot in this seems to be a skill for a couple of years down the line.
Remind me about The Maze.

Industrial ships are your friend. They can move any frigate, inty, covops, AF, HAC, logistics, or cruiser in EVE without named expanders, and indies/transport ships with expanders. I think BCs fit too. The only non-capital ship that can't be moved with an indy is a BS, and those can be easily moved with a freighter.
This skill is unneeded. - Proud member of the [23].

You can move any ship within reason in an indy. If its a Battleship, Just stick it on escrow.
1 Skill to fly em all, is not really a smart idea is it. It cuts out months of peoples training. And Like someone else said makes the racial role almost point less. You might as well do away with the races and have only one race. ------------------------------------------------ "Its not Feasible to Dismiss an Idea because of lag" |
