HI Guys,
though i would name a few scammers out there, they say they recruit for goonwaffe, they send you to a website to sign up and get approved then ask for a security deposit of 500m or 1 bil say your in then apply in the game to join the corp and decline your app. when asked ok fine i failed what ever i have my cash back they they hold you to ransom over the things you have already had moved by their freighter pilot and demand another 500 mil to get your stuff back. They are 100% scammers.
toon names are
Reginald Schlepp = Frieghter pilot
Kelfa Xaljite = Recruitment director, total scum i got lots of emails from this guy.
Luther Chuggs = recruitment officer, a very good scammer has all the jpegs and gift of the gab you can think of.
-10 all three. |

I'm sorry to hear that this has happened to you, especially since we have just purged a large amount of scammers from the corporation. Unfortunately some people do slip through the net, but if you file a grievance here, we will launch an investigation in to this heinous crime against our honour & have you reimbursed as soon as possible.
The guy who was sitting next to me in the first nullsec round table who had obviously not had a shower since before boarding his flight to Iceland, you really stank. You know who you are. |

I have at least a couple questions.
1. You say they claimed to be recruiters. What do you mean by this? Did they just say they were, or did you have credible reasons to believe they were?
2. You said the deposit was either 500m or a billion, but did not say what you paid if anything.
Is it possible there is just some misunderstanding or confusion? I certainly do suggest you escalate this further at the link provided above if there is merit.
I just want you to be absolutely certain the recruiters are scammers before going that route. It would be a rocky start to say the least if they were actually legit.
Anyway, I hope you get this all ironed out, and I look forward to flying with you. |

If you then click on the top entry, titled 'Joining GoonWaffe - GoonWiki'...... Now granted this has taken a full 15 seconds now, hang in there, all your hard work will pay off in the end.
Once you get to the webpage, in bright red text, are the words
"If you gave isk to join GoonWaffe then you were scammed and you're **** out of luck."
Maybe you should have done some research!
Oh and BTW...
Posting this isnt really informing EVE how this is a scam (even my grandma knows about this scam). All it does is makes other Corps aware of how dumb you have been. Better hope the next corp you try to get into doesn't do any research using your name!

For the OP, might I offer that given the current political hostilities between the nulsec entities now is a time for exceptional paranoid recruiters. There was likely a mix up or perhaps an api linkup to something nefarious. Instead of coming to the c&p community with hands empty of proof perhaps you should follow the well posted and document channels of communication within the various CFC entities.
Unless of course the more obvious answer is that you are in fact a spai who's only real purpose here is to malign these individuals as well as goons as a whole. 500m or a bil (which is it your story changes) is a small price next to a mans reputation.

what is with all this proof bollox, its well known they do this, i was just posting a few names that tried it. if you want proof go in to the recruiment channel in a newish toon and post your looking for a corp, my last count was 3 of goons tried to recruit me and all three used the same script " well there is a place for you in goonwaffe" i do it just for a laugh now to waste their time and tell them i know of the scam and they leave the conversation.

One way you can check for "proof" if someone is a legitimate recruiter is to look at the corp descriptions.
Most corps will post who to contact for things like recruiting, diplo, or even directors names. Often times there is also a public channel you can join to ask questions.
If none of this information is posted then you might want to look further.
Also.... there is HUGE competition for new recruits so it's literally out of the question that anyone legitimate would want you to pay to get in regardless of corp or alliance. There's the take home message for you. |
