ACs are a terrible option, most stuff will be dead before it reaches you and if anything does reach you it's likely to be small and fast and ACs won't track them anyway. |

I feel it is worth pointing out that beam lasers have the best raw DPS and tracking of all the long range guns and they are now easier on the grid and cap than they used to be. Sure they are only EM/Themal damage but if you are shooting at Sansha or Blood Raiders they are a perfectly viable option to go along with your sentry drones.
I think any of the long range guns work fine on the new standard Dominix as companions to sentry drones. It just depends on what you are shooting at and what you have trained. |

Oh well.
If you are a noob without large hybrids, you shouldn't even be looking at a Navy Domi yet. Do you have a problem with reading comprehension? Did you even read the OP?
Hmm. OP is talking about the changes (or lack there of) of the Navy Domi.
You mention you would have preferred the drone bonus (I made the assumption you are talking about the Navy domi as well).
I made the comment that a noob really shouldn't be even looking at a Navy domi until you are ready to fit it properly (regardless of its bonuses). You would in effect be using an overly expensive ship, and instead of taking advantage of its extra power, you would be using its extra slots etc to mask your lack of skills. Generally a bad combination.

A while back I flew my Navy Dominix without any turret skills. I had DLA's and tractor beams. Of course I had max drone and tanking skills since I don't believe in flying a battleship without at least T2 tank and since T1 sentries kind of suck so I waited for T2.
Now I have four T2 350's ... The other slots are DLA's. I armor tank so after three drone damage amps there is no room for magstabs. The gun DPS is not even worth talking about. I could shield tank, fit magstabs and get crazy DPS but I dont use my Domi to blast through missions.
Tell me my fit sucks and I'll say you're right but it does what I want. I fly my navy domi when I'm tired and want a bit more tank for more relaxed play. When I want to tear though missions fast I'll fly a Nightmare or Machariel... I might even try my CNR since it got buffed.
I'm pretty much stuck to setting training and posting in the forms for this month due to RL issues... It's so frustrating with all the ship changes and I'm unable to really test them out!
Thanks guys for the input! One thing I do like about Eve is the community. Eve players are so nice they even hang out at stargates for hours to test out other players fits and advise them on what they need to change! What game as such awesome players!

If I ever do fly a domi for PVE it will be a support boat following another character adding 800 mostly attention free dps, to nearly any range required in missions, so I'd have remote reps and energy transfers on it, with a drone link augmentor or two.
Good luck with that one. They changed NPCs so they're really nasty now and will switch targets like sleepers. I did a couple L4s with a raven/domi pair and struggled when they'd suddenly swap targets. Lost about 10 drones too and probably more if I didn't constantly recall/deploy them. |

If you want the drone bonus what's stopping you from using the regular domi?
Making it a gimmick peice of **** blasterboat you mean? T1 and navy mega owns the navy dominix on a stick in terms of gank per isk invested. Anytime.
I haven't had a chance to test it on TQ yet but the new T1 domi can push a passive tank and still break 1k dps at close range with rediculous damage application. ______

For gank per isk invested sure, the regular Domi will do better than the N.Domi, but you can get quite abit more projection and dps from a Navy Domi if you invest in a proper shield tank, not an insane amount, you can get an N.Domi that deals 1k dps to lock range with Bouncers or or 1.2k dps to 56km with Gardes for around 700+mil. You lose out on the Domis tracking bonus but that's a significant amount of extra dps |

I'm pretty sure the noob ships win any gank per ISK invested arguments.

More seriously, the applied DPS is about the same as with Torps because you don't lose time closing.

You're missing the point: Navy Dominix is a peice of ****. plain and simple. You can do missions in it yes but that's just one thing.
Navy mega is much better, T1 geddon is much better, T1 mega is much better. All are about the same or lower in cost. ______
