Can anyone explain why the Navy Dominix doesn't get the "10% bonus to Drone optimal range and Drone tracking speed" that the regular Dominix gets...
CCP made a big deal about having one weapon system and not having multiple bonuses for ships. I was excited when I head about the Dominix changes but didn't realize it didn't apply to the "Navy" version. Yes I'm a bit slow LOL
It seems crazy because they "fixed" the rig calibration issue of navy ships because they said it made no sense that the regular version would have an advantage over the navy version... Now they added bonus a regular version of a ship and not the navy version.
Yes the navy version still has the "5% bonus to Large Hybrid Turret damage" but I would take the 10% bonus to drone optimal range and tracking speed any day.
Is this just because they didn't want to make too many changes at once and it'll probably come out in a future patch? I hope so!

Because the navy domi is not the same as the regular domi. The navy domi retains it's hybrid weapon bonus making it one of the highest DPS close range brawlers out there.
If you want the drone bonus what's stopping you from using the regular domi? |

CCP's explanation was pretty darn clear as to why they left it as they did. |

I would have been quite upset if they had taken away the hybrid damage bonus from the Navy Domi. Just as I would have been upset about taking away the guns from the Armageddon Navy.

@ Tsukino Stareine I'm using it for missions and don't really want to downgrade to the regular domi to get the bonus. I can see how it would be nasty for PVP so maybe this is why. It just seems weird with CCP removing most of the multiple weapon bonuses that they keep it. Either way it still works well.
@ Derath Ellecon I missed CCP's explanation. That's why I asked here.... Lately RL has been taking up most of my game and internet time |

The Navy Domi is patently superior for missioning purposes. It gets the hybrid damage bonus.

Yea I feel you when it comes to changes. I'm not too excited about the new apoc look but oh well I'll deal with it. I knew there was a reason why they didn't change the navy domi. All the ones I've ran into the wrong end of had neuts but I'm sure lots have guns... God I hate neuts! |

The Dominix Navy Issue roughly keeps the same attributes as before, as we wished to keep it unique and were not willing to change it on the same pattern than its Tech 1 counterpart. For being a Combat ship however, it gains some hit points at the cost of mobility and signature radius.
Really... It was all of 2 clicks to get to the dev blog. Faster than it would have taken to start this post. |

Use the regular domi then. It can do any L4 without a problem, perhaps even faster than the navy domi if you don't have the turret skills anyways.
With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.

As an older player who does have Large T2 Hybrids I STILL would have preferred the new secondary bonus on the NDomi as well. I'm not upset they kept the Hybrid bonus but would have been happier with the Drone bonus. I'm just hoping CCP lives up to the comment (no I can't find the thread) where they said they're looking into ways of making true Drone boats better. I'd kill a mother to see that new Drone secondary (that the Domi got) on my RS! It's already my goto ship when I need a serious tank and/or long range.

the gankageddon is just so classic if they totally ruined it I don't know what I'd do. the domi I'm not as worried about, but it is nice that they kept the gank monster potential intact. You can trust me, I have a monocole |

N.Domi will outperform a Domi for missioning purposes but only if you invest in a pimp shield tank/armor tank to get the most out of both the gun dps and the sentry dps. The regular Domi will be far superior if you don't have good hybrid skills and the optimal + tracking bonus is amazing for sentries and you can easily make it work with a cheap T2 armor tank while not giving up any sentry damage/application. |

civilian guns for agro? If I ever do fly a domi for PVE it will be a support boat following another character adding 800 mostly attention free dps, to nearly any range required in missions, so I'd have remote reps and energy transfers on it, with a drone link augmentor or two. You can trust me, I have a monocole |

The classic Dominix was my go to ship for the later part of my first year. After hitting my first 10m SP in core and tanking skills I used my first remap to Mem/Per for the next 10m SP in drones. The standard Dom became quite an effective ship by the time I was able to use drones II and sentry drones II and I didn't have to worry so much on T2 Gunnery, EW warfare and other branches needed to effectively pilot other battleships.
I have switched to the Navy since I am currently filling out my large T2 Gunnery (like many remapped to P/W earlier this year) skills. |

I use five T2 heavy beams and a drone link augment. I thought of fitting ACs, but I was short on money and didn't want to take any off of my currently fitted ships. Also not having to worry about ammo is nice. They function well enough for picking off incoming frigates while my sentries take out the larger stuff that I'm happy with them for now. |

Navy Domi is amog the best Lvl 4 farmers out there, if not the best for Serp/Gurista, possibly beaten by Navy Raven and Navy Phoon after CM buff, taking away the turret damage bonus would make this ship alot worse for missioning than it currently is.
Give it a slight pimpage and it boasts 1354 dps with CN AM 425mm rails and Garde's with an optimal of 50km and a drone control range of 84km, Wardens and LR ammo it still boasts 950+ dps at max drone control range
Oh, and it allows MWD to be fitted which makes it break 1K M/S aswell when traveling is needed.

Flew the Navy Domi before the patch. Plan on flying the navy domi after the patch.
I'm VERY glad that they are no longer two identical ships and have rolls that are unique - rather than the Navy just being better all around.
You can still put out 600-700 DPS with a regular domi and throw reps in to spider tank; it'll make an awesome shield ship now that I don't have to worry about throwing 2-3 omni's in the mid slots. Just food for thought. |

With good Drone skills, a regular Domi can easily put out 650 dps with Bouncer IIs with an optimal of 120+km. Garde IIs can do 750 DPS with an optimal of 60+km. Throw in a MJD and you can do L4s without any tank at all. Maybe not the fastest way to do L4s, but its about as close to AFK missioning as is possible now a days.

I'll grant you that any turret will work on those hardpoints, but autocannons do have the advantages of being able to add a selectable form of secondary DPS and not chewing up capacitor energy (as well as being fairly forgiving with fitting requirements, as opposed to artillery). Yeah, you could go with lasers, blasters, or railguns, but if you need to worry about capacitor for the purposes of tank and mobility, and want extra DPS out of those turret slots, AC's aren't a bad option.
