So a week into the game, I have my Incursus decked out and I want to go take on some stinkin' pirates. So I go to 0.8 and 0.7 systems & cruse the asteroid belts.
Probelm is sometimes pirates are there, but most of the times they're not. I jump from belt to belt, and maybe have 2 or 3 encounters for the entire system.
Is there a better way to seek & destroy pirates?

Yes, agent missions. Get to an agent in the "security" department of a corperation. They will give you all sorts of combat missions. They can be repetative at first, but they start to get better, and eventually that will open up level 2 agents for you...whos missions can be REALLY TOUGH!

Thanks for the quick reply. Where do I find such level 1 agents? Is there a list or search within the game?

Best is to dock at a station close to where you are, and press the tab "Agents".
they will probably show as "not available for you" but then you can show info (the big I) on the agent, and then click on the corporation logo.
there you can se a new tab, agents, and there you got a list of agents that particular corporation has. there is bound to be one or two you can take.
when you find one you can have, go to that agents station and start conversation with him/her and there you go!

Even easier, open up the map and chose "Display Settings"/"My agents" (or something like that). Then the agents available to you will be marked on the map, and if you hover over the star system you'll see their stats. You want a agent in a division that sounds martial (Security, Command, Surveillance) and a high quality.
The quality of the agent is better if the number is higher.
Also, the less secure the system is the agent is in, the more he pays. You risk facing pirates there of course.
If you're around the Gallente space, I have done many missions for Angelique Jostalie in Auvergne, she is a lvl 1 quality 19 security agent.

Also try .6 belts. My Incursus kicks butt and am ready to try .5 belts.

1st: Do the tutorial (VERY important, gives a 1.0 standing with your race's faction)
After that, your charsheet-standings-liked by tab. Choose the corp which likes you best. Go to the corpinfo-agents list, and choose from the available agents.
