I don't wish to spam but there are some features of this game i'd like to see here...
Read that thread and tell me what you think.
No shards... one single world... no changing systems
I'd love this in eve.
AD: For the record, and given the many announcement about this, could you please give us the server characteristics?
Vuuar: The server is set for 100,000 simultaneous connections. Client graphics (concerning NPCs and avatars) are limited to 500m around the avatar, but you can see the landscape 50 km away

Originally by: Vishnej infused - the devs have more important things on their minds.
And there's no hard-and-fast rules to the capabilities of computer programming, including netcode.
Sorry, the reason I bought this up in the first place was the fact that they intend to have no 'jump gates' switching systems and changing nodes whole supporting 100k connections.
I was wondering why EVE could not be done in a similar fashion.

Originally by: Vishnej Eve is based on a completely different netcode, with a completely different hardware situation, a completely different gameworld, a completely different connection, and a completely different set of stats that need to be transmitted.
It may have different net code but i'd say the rest would be similar in setup.
Even if it was, it could be changed.

Brilliant! How utterly original.
*yawn*
I really don't get it... why all the fantasy games?
Boring...
I'm just interested in the tech behind it.

Edited by: infused on 07/11/2005 21:36:09 What about this:
You enter a jump gate and a menu comes up. You can select from any system in the region depending on skills and you get random 'dump' somewhere in that system...
Would solve travel time and gate camping :)
Then instead you have region gates, which can then be camped so you guys don't lose out and you can defend your space.

Does anyone like my idea for travel posted above? This was the real reason I made this post.
The reason I posted that MMO here is that it had no gates as such. IMO there has to be a change to the gate system, esspecially when BMs are removed.
I'd like this thread to focus on that, i'll change the topic if need be.
I really like my idea and I don't really see any draw backs...
Suggestions?

"Everyone knows that Gnomes are the best Bards one can find. Only they know how to present lies with this oh so beautiful aspect of truth, that makes it so even non-believers stop chatting and lay their Ravage-Bowel goblets on the table, with their eyes wet and their lips dribbling. Now this is poetry!" I think I might have just vomited a little.
LOL - missed that.
