I have heard that a passive tank on this great battlecruiser is more effective than a active one. However I'm not quite sure whats a good balance of extenders, relays etc.
Heres what i have so far
- 5x Heavy Launcher, 2x 150mm Rails
- 2x Large Shield Extender, 1x Active Hardener, 10MN AB, Target Painter
- 4x Power Diagnostic System, 1x Shield Relay
Any help?

All the builds I have seen with a great passive tank have such pathetic damage that its not worth it.

My set-up is very slow, both in moving and killing, but I never get scratched in lvl 3's. I'm at work, but this is what I think I run:
5 Heavy Missles (now arbs, started with Mal's)
2 125's (very useful for frigates and drones, and proto's are cheap in 125's)
2 Shield Extender II's (I's are not bad if you have fitting trouble)
2 Active Hardeners (mission specific and named for fitting and cap)
1 Shield Recharger II (possibly dropable, but no enough grid to run an AB)
2 Shield Power Relays (need at least 2 - the benefits are high and costs low for 2nd)
1 PDU II (to make things fit and a bit more recharge)
1 BCU to help with the slow damage output
Pack of med drones
I scoot around at 176 m/sec so I often do a loot run in another ship after.
I think I only pay attention to shield damage in the black market hub and spy stash missions. The recharge is so high the worst I have to do is wait a min or two before engaging another wave (and spend that time crawiling to a can).

I use a very similar setup(I use assults since I dont have all my weapon up grade skills).
It tough but sometimes I have to bail on the tough missions - spystash etc.
Im curious what Im doing wrong since everyone else this this set up is practically invincable.

I've done the toughest lvl 3's (spy stash and black market hub) with the following set up and never had to jump out. Although I thought about it on black market when they got my sheilds down to 32% but I killed one merc commander and my tank was once again better then their dps.
High
5x named heavies
2x named 125s
Medium
2x Large shield extender II's
2x rat specific resistance amp II's
1x 10mn ab
You can and probably will need to drop the ab for another amp and either double amp one damage type (I double amp thermal for spy stash) or go with three types (EM, thermal, and kenetic for black market)
Low
3x shield power relay I's (are II's avalible yet?)
1x pdu II's
I have no idea if my damage is bad or not but I can clear angle extravaganza in an hour and a half with that set up. Also if I could get my hands on some shield power relay II's it would really rock but oh well.

Passive tanks can fit damage mods. The Raven passive setup I recommend to people has 3 damage mods. With the new patch as well you get a lot of free powergrid and CPU to fit the biggest weapons.

I can do that in a Caracal with a hybrid shield tank (large t2 extender, one hardener, med booster, 2x PDU).
I have to hit the BMH and Spy Stash missions and see how I perform in my Caracal.
