So the launch button does what Mopar drivers have been able to do for 40 years. In any case, I'll still take a Sahara or Wrangler over a Cherokee any day of the week. In fact I've been driving a Sahara for the last few weeks because the Disco is down until my new bumper arrives. Been having to put up with driving with the top down and the doors off in beautiful 85 degree cloudless weather. Out of Pod is getting In the Pod - Join in game channel IG OOPE |

My next car will be a Wrangler for similar reasons...
then I'm getting a Ducati 848 Evo and my life will be complete... then it'll end when I hit the hardball at 165+ "Little ginger moron" ~David Hasselhoff-á

That's what I'm talking about! Though it's more extreme than what I do.
Love it right at the beginning when the LR driver is being all gingerly with the rut and right after the Jeep guy is like F-it and plows right on through. Out of Pod is getting In the Pod - Join in game channel IG OOPE |

As I said in my post there, I believe the way the two approached the rut is due to the shape difference. The compact nature of the Wrangler predisposes it to be ideal for tight terrain, but that also gives it less surface area to disperse its weight in sandy/muddy/watery areas. The Rovers on the other hand, with their wide wheel base, will excel in terrain that benefit from a wider wheel base and will struggle more frequently in tighter deeper terrains; if all things are equal mechanically that is. There seems to be many videos of this nature where one side of the debate will put a version of the opposing brand into their video that does not have the proper set up to tackle the terrain to 'prove' their's is 'better' |

I personally don't care for any of the anything you can do I can do better vehicle debates, I was just noting the 2 different takes to that first rut.. I personally choose vehicles based on what I like about them, not what other people say about them. I mean I can make a Chevy Luv perform as well as anything we see in these video's if I wanted to.
Cracked actually made a recent article that pertains to this fanboy mentality. Of course they are referring to the Xbox/PS4 saga but the same concept can be applied to anything, especially the ongoing Land Rover/Jeep feud.

My dad had one of those when I was a kid in Liberia. Not sure if it was the same version, my dad's looked like this. That vehicle would jolt the heck out of your kidneys on a dirt road, but it sure was tough. It had very few little mechanical or electrical niceties that could vibrate loose and malfunction. Need a little air conditioning? Push down the steel levers on the dashboard and open the vents. The vents were just portholes with screens over them, you could look through them directly onto the hood/bonnet. Or you could open a window. Which you did by just sliding a pane of glass that slid forward on a rail.
Not a very cushy ride, but it was pretty perfect for life in a rural part of a less developed country, where vehicle maintenance is an issue. There just weren't that many things on it could fail and cause trouble. About like a bigger and slightly more comfortable Willys Jeep. |

My friend had a '51 willies with many of the luxury features that you mentioned. Sliding windows, vent ac, and manual windshield wipers. It wasn't in very nice condition though, so with the windows and vent ac we also had no floorboards. Sucked when you hit a puddle. And not only did it not have power steering, the rack'n'pinion was completely rusted out so you really had to throw your weight into it when turning. The passenger seat was missing 2 bolts which means the passenger had a tendency to fall backwards if he took off too quickly. And all but 2 of the windows was either cracked or busted out completely. That is basically what I was getting on about. Most vehicles that are touted as 4 wheel drive will do what most people want them to do. Some will have niches, but they all will go where they can go and if not, that is why you put a wench on the front end and a tow hook on the back |

That is one of the best movie series right there. Of all time. I think it was number 2 where one of the actors spent half the movie being chased by a honey badger and eventually carried it with him because it got tired and he didn't want to be alone. Oh yeah, I forgot all about that badger part. That was classic. Time to check those movies out again with the kids. |
