Faction POS's were reintroduced in odyssey, and i was wondering what you guys think this means for the much talked about POS revamp.
Does this hint at the revamp being delayed/canceled or am i reading too much into it? 3 years 6 expansions: incursions, the venture, 3 BCGÇÖs and 3 destroyers... Is this all you are capable of CCP? |

The sad thing is i'm not sure if i'm telling the truth. |

Good point actually, why would they start seeding them again after years where they didn't drop, if POS's were to be replaced soon?
But of course new modular POS's may be introduced in such a way that existing POS's are converted into the new type and a faction tower will become a faction New-POS. . |

It's way down the line. The POS code is such a mess that they can't really do incremental updates, they have to design the complete new thing before anything else happens, and that requires a commitment of time and energy to the point where Unifex at one point said "We could have a whole expansion that was JUST new POSes."
So, they are working on it, but it's going to be a while before there is anything in place. In the interim, they're giving us "bandaid" fixes, like the personal CHAs and the upcoming personal SMAs. I categorize faction towers as another bandaid - with the changes to ice, the reduced fuel costs are now much more relevant. |

The most recent impression they've given is the POS revamp isn't in the works at all. Which is why they are doing improvements to the current POSes. The devs have indicated that the modular POSes would basically require a release or 2 just for the POS work, and they aren't willing devote that much time to it. This actually makes me wonder if dedicating resources to a "POS rework branch" of Eve might be useful, to let a team hammer on the newPOS stuff over a longer period of time than a single expansion cycle can provide. The bandages are slowing the bleeding at least slightly from what I can tell, though, so that's a good thing. |

at a very low drop rate but i think it is because its going to be delayed which is pretty bad because if anything needs a huge overhaul quick its POS at nr 1 and drones at nr 2

I don't think anyone is going to argue the POSSES are fine, and indeed in W-Space the annoyance with the currect system is getting to the most of us.
However according to information provided by CCP in some informercials, blogs etc POS revamp is still on the table. However as said before the system is so messed up its hard to ' improve' on it.
In my opinion CCP would be better off developing a complete new system for POS/starbase and just replace the current with the new. However that will cause the needed rage ofc ;) |

I dunno, I haven't had that much trouble living out of one for the last 2 years. Once we get T3subsystem support everything else is manageable. |

FTFY
Given drop rates, and potential demand if fuel rises (especially for HS dwellers) I don't expect the prices to change that drastically anytime soon. |

Because multiple devs have stated that the POS code is a mess. It's a common response to the question of why can't you fix X in POSes. Given my understanding of programming and using POSes I suspect a large issue is corp roles which is another rumoured area of problem code. As a long time CEO I can confirm that corp roles need to be taken out back and shot, repeatedly and without remorse. |

I still recall one of our guys being very disappointed as he has one of each faction tower (small, medium and large) and they have all significantly dropped in value.
Now, the collectors in eve are a very small amount of players but the changes made the overall worth of the faction towers quite significantly less.
Cheers,
