SO, I have a thorax doing lvl 2 combat missions. At first I was having a hard time `cause I didn't have a clue which module is best. But now I'm doing ok, I'm slowly learning the different types of modules and even trying to get it down to specific hybrid ammo damages and bonuses.
I now have access to lvl 3 missions and was wondering if I could do these with my thorax?
Is brutix worth the 25 mil or so? Or should I just save my money for a megathron? Would it be easier to do lvl 3 combat with a brutix?
About the vexor: I know it has that +1 to drones controlled per lvl, does that mean that if I have +4 on drone skill, I could contol eight on a vexor?
Thanks

Yes (assuming you have cruiser at level 4). You should read up on the upcoming drone changes though.
I'll let others answer the questions about the Brutix. It's worth it if you have the skills and knowlege to fly it. I'm not sure about level 3's though, it depends on your skills again.

The trick to doing level 3 missions is, honeslty, experience. They are soloable in a thorax once you know them in and out, however it takes quite a bit of SP as well. In a brutix, you should have a fairly fun time (relatively risk free). If you need help/advice fitting it -- feel free to convo me ingame, or check up on the 'ships' forum here. I don't know about a megathron, because I've never flown one besides for mining =) -------------------------------------------

From my own personal experience, I had great difficulty doing level 3 missions in a brutix back when I first had access to them. Its just so big and slow it takes huge amounts of damage and my skills weren't good enough to tank it effectively, (though the mk2 changes will give the brutix a boost).
I would recommend aiming to fly an enyo for level 3 missions, it'll take more time to train for than a brutix but the skill training will be worth it and they're cheaper. Also it'll probably take the same amount of training time to get effective in a brutix and you won't lose expensive ships in the process of finding out that it takes more skils than just the required ones to do level 3s in a brutix. --------------------

I was in the same situation as you were a month or so ago. Flying a Thorax and wanting to jump into level threes. I was planning on getting a Brutix and move into them but figured I would just tough out level twos and go till I could afford a Dominix. Really glad I did. Cost me around 70 mill to buy and fit out but it makes the level threes a piece of cake. And if you train up your social skills, you'll make a ton of ISK and loot per mission.
I fit my Domi out with 4 250's for close in shots, 2 dual 250's to pull long range, an AB, 4 cap rechargers (to help run your tank), 2 cap relays, three hardeners (kin, therm, expl), med rep II and large rep II. Bought those tech II's with money I made on running missions. Oh, and I use 12 drones (2 of each of the heavies and four mediums).
You can do all level threes with this setup and you'll make a ton of ISK.
Hope this helps.

Theres a skill to get more money on bountys, and skills (some are VERY exspensive) that increase the amount of LPs you get.
LP offers are where the real money in missions is. Once you are doing level 4s missions and get tens of thousands of LPs you get offered skills worth hundreds of millions of ISK.
No skills for better loot though lol. He wasn't saying you get better loot. -------------------------------------------------- - Jamie (Aka) Spartan III Hardener Stacking Penalty Explained |

LOL ... the social skills upgrades get you better ISK and loyalty payouts, and higher security bumps. My reference to the loot was the sheer quantity of it you get on level threes. Lots of rats to kill and lots of cans to loot. Every now and then you'll get modules you can sell for up to a mill apiece, and the mission payouts on the higher end missions is usually around a mill apiece. So it's easy to bank alot in a short time.
The point is, save up and get a Domi to make the missions foolproof.

Thing about the Domi is ... you can buy and outfit it inexpensively and that'll get you into making ISKs quicker.
