weird...I spent about 3 minutes. I think ya'll's problem is that you take this whole character creation thing too seriously
I like my whiskers, the eyebrow thing is cool too

I spent a good 30min on mine and it still turned out like a mugshot... in my defense though I had spent the night before partying and drinking lots and I was running late so didn't have time to do my hair properly

My sole goal in creating my avatar was to make my guy look like an old horny guy... so TBH, it didn't take very long... he has no eyes though... so that kinda sucks.

I tried to make mine ugly and mean looking as possible. Dont recall how much time I spent. Not much. I think if the new bloodlines look cool I may make a new face...

Depends when you did it. Many months ago, you could spend all day at the character creation page and think out every detail..
Then for some reason a timeout thing got introduced. People who have created characters >lately< will experience the cruel disconnections. I also experience timeouts when sitting idle at a station. It seems idlers are kicked, and sometimes people thinking about their avatar face are mistaken for one.
Though sometimes its brutal, sometimes you are given grace. I dont know what triggers it or how consistent it is. It just seems like creating a character lately can be a very hit and miss thing, unless you blast through the process
I just made an alt today and spent quite a bit of time on the portrait. Far more than 2 minutes. Sounds like a personal problem to me.

Actually the real reason 95% of eve chars are ugly as sin is very simple. An attractive pic is a relative thing, and all pale when compared to the unrivaled beauty and majesty that is Del Narveux. 
Anyway this is either a new thing or a local problem, I made my last char (on a trial account...long story) like 3 months ago and definitely spent more than 3 or 4 minutes on it.
