I would submit a bug report, but of course the forms page is down.
Anyway, there is no possible way to make a detalied character which involves investing a little time. No, I'm wrong, there is one possibly way. You have to recreate your detailed character at _least_ 15 times in a row, mesmerizing every exact detail and pushing yourself to finish your character in a record amount of time.
Why does character creation timeout from the server after 2 minutes? Am I not allowed to spend more than two minutes detailing my character's avatar? Or am I forced to keep redoing my character over and over, until I master the making of my character within the 2 minute time limit?
It is absurd that, after spending so much time into creating a good avatar, multiple times in a row, I am dumped from the server and lose connection. Am I the only one who is tormented by this? Is this a widespread problem?
I am ready to assassinate my monitor with a pair of scissors!! This is driving me NUTS!!

I've spent a lot more than 2 minutes messing with my characters jaw alone. Looks like you got a problem.

I totally agree. I tried putting a little time in to my avatar creation. After all, its the face that you'll be using for a long time. The last thing you want to do, is create an awkward looking thing which resembles a drivers licence picture that you turned up hungover for. Which is what 70% of eve avatars look like! Gawking, with awkward expression on their face, light all askew, or totally ugly or expressionless like some manequin.
The time out limit is extreme. Unless you rush through it, you lose the face and have to start the whoooooolle process again. Stat allocation and schools to boot.
Though, I have more gripes about the lack of variety. Its impossible to look anything resembling ethnic diversity. I tried in vain to make my av look asian for example... As such, you see so many people looking exactly the same out there. Okay every race line has to have its genetics and similarities. But a bit more diversity within each race would be nice. Eg- if you go brutor male, i can guess what you'll look like... *closes eyes and does psychic thing.. you will be.. brown skinned, big jawed, brawny.... *concentrates.... sunglasses... dreadlocks... oh my god was i right?
A few more skin, nose, eye types.. and maybe a few more affectations would go a long way.

Depends when you did it. Many months ago, you could spend all day at the character creation page and think out every detail..
Then for some reason a timeout thing got introduced. People who have created characters >lately< will experience the cruel disconnections. I also experience timeouts when sitting idle at a station. It seems idlers are kicked, and sometimes people thinking about their avatar face are mistaken for one.
Though sometimes its brutal, sometimes you are given grace. I dont know what triggers it or how consistent it is. It just seems like creating a character lately can be a very hit and miss thing, unless you blast through the process

I've noticed oddness with idling... But usually I can idle for a good fifteen minutes (highly conservative estimate). I'd just as soon assume it's the server deciding it's strained, and thinking it should close unused connections, and then go about my day happily.
And for the record, I think my portrait is boss.

Heh, it appears you are standing in a public toilet. That expression is just the wrong expression to have in a public toilet.

I used to get idle disconnections in stations, but I changed my routers firmware and they have stopped since.

I've never had the timeout issue, however I do find it annoying that if you go to the naming screen and then decide to go back to character editing (because the avatar looks slightly different when compressed into the smaller image on the naming page) all the lighting and position information is reset :(
