Update: A corpmate took on said Scorpion in a Rax with T2 drones.
Result? He orbited at 25km, hitting him with the railguns and letting the 8 heavies do their work.
He wiped the Scorpions shield out, before he had to warp away with 50% armour. So, whilst a solo Thorax is not going to do it... 2 is a different matter altogether.
I think all thorax owners are dreading the day that Kali goes live...

High = 4x modul neutrons, 2x large nos
Mids = 100nm AB, 7.5km scram, web, 4 multispec II's, tracking disrupter
Lows = 2 RCU II's, 2x Magnetic field stab II's..
Nasty Nasty scorp setup.. down boy.. grrrrrrr

How was he able to do that while jammed? I mean the drones would still hit him, but not the rails.
And what is the point in orbiting at 25km in the case you want to kill a Scorp?

Dunno. He did hit him with the rails though... perhaps the scorp was shield tanked, albiet not effectively, and didnt have racial jammers fitted? No idea. He was jammed on and off. But thats what happened. He was hitting him for 50 damage per shot from 200mm rails.
He orbited at 25km because he knew we wasn't going to kill him, and didnt want to risk getting warp scrambled.
It doesnt sound like the scorp pilot really knew what he was doing to be honest. Even so, I think taking a Scorp to armour in a single Thorax is perfectly feasible, even if the scorp did know what he was doing.

if the scorp pilot has 3 brain cells and is half awake you wont win. granted he may or may not be able to kill (based on his weapons loadout) you but you wont get him.
and when it comes to numbers I have no concerns when I come up against a 2 or 3 man gank squad...from the start the odds are in my favor that I am going to be the one to leave on my terms.
and from experience i have lost a couple scorps but it was not from a lack of trying. the last scorp i lost was too a taranis...the funny thing was I had his six (only had six jammers outfitted) buddies jammed the entire time but I could not do enough damage to the fast orbiting taranis to save myself from his ass whooping (was the most hilarious thing i have ever seen, six ships useless their drones dead and this one taranis ate my lunch).

All im going to say on the matter that the is that the 'standard' higslots for a scorp are 4 cruise / torps and 2 heavy NOS.
2 Heavy NOS will *****your cap, and your ability to tank. Ive killed a couple demios with this setup, takes a while but when they cant tank, or warp and their webbed... 6 heavies and 4 cruise takes em down. Eventually.
Based on that im going to guess that the T1 equivlent wont last too long

Obviously, a solo Thorax cannot kill a scorpion, but thats not really what I'm asking.

Taking on a Scorp is really a mixed bag because of all the different setups it can fit:
- 8 multispecs / sensor boosters + gank / light armor tank
- 5 multispecs / sensor boosters + light shield tank
You have an advantage, though, because you have a tackler with you. I would probably fit the following setup:
High Slots:
5x 150mm Railgun I
Mid Slots:
1x 10mn Afterburner I
2x Remote Sensor Damper I
Low Slots:
1x 1600mm Reinforced Steel Plates I
2x Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane I
2x Capacitor Power Relay I
This ship can last with two heavy nos on it for ~4 minutes running just the damps with my crappy skills; switch on the AB and you get ~2 minutes. Don't bother wedging a MWD on this ship -- it makes sense if you're flying solo and need to get in range, but it's stupid to gimp your cap when you're flying with a wingman and when you are basically a flying heavy drone platform anyway.

It was a corpmate in a single Thorax, who caught him by accident, on his own. Nothing else. The Scorp pilot is 14 months old. My corpmate got jammed at points but the T2 drones did all the work.

this thread is a complete joke...
And people don't seem to know how to properly set up scorp...
There's no ******* way in hell you're gonna kill a scorp with a thorax + ceptor if it's properly set up, i never take my scorp out without smartbomb.
Scorp can pwn almost anything 1v1... or if it doesn't it can warp out.
Thorax has like 3 midslots... errr... so you're gonna fit MWD... 2x jammers... and then?
Concidering that after fitting jammers+sensor boosters+scram+Web a scorp will still have 4 lows which it can fit a pair of stabs in without sacrificing almost anything...
(Prepares to read flame against stabs)
